Curses.

Curses. People always think of them as bad things and talk about how 'evil' they are. In my opinion, there are several views of curses based on belief. Some may find them a terrible, evil thing to do, others may find them not a problem. Here is how I view them.

I believe in balance. I do not curse people just because they make me angry, or insult me. I only place a curse on an item or possession that I feel may be stolen or intended to be stolen. So for example. If I place a curse (Which I have not done.) around a possession that is valuable and may be stolen, I would curse it and give it a specific effect like "If they steal (item name) Their legs will be sore for 3 days." So if that item is stolen, they will feel pain. It doesn't mean they will return it though. You can also bless someone as a curse. Sometimes fortune can be just as bad as misfortune. In my opinion, there must always be a balance. Both good and bad things must happen in order for anything to change.

As stated before, Some may view curses as bad, evil ,etc. Others may view them nonchalantly. It all depends again on personal belief and moral values. You may agree, you may disagree.

How do you make it so if someone steals something of yours some curse activates? Do you know the spell for it cause there is one guy who steals all my stuff. If you do know please tell me.

It's all in your intent. If you focus on the curse activating when it is stolen, it will activate. Because once you know it is stolen, the curse will take effect.

I agree completely, Hexen Feuer. It's all about balance and intent. Curses should only be done when necessary, such as protecting an irreplaceable item (Such as a keepsake from a deceased) or perhaps a particular person (Make sure you have that person's DIRECT permission, and they know what will happen)

By setting a 'curse' on a person, it could be to curse whoever bullies them, or sexually harrasses them. Kind of like a moving virus, it would stay on the first person harmlessly, but move to affect the target accordingly. Always make sure that the person with the curse knows how to remove it when necessary.

curses may not be evil in general, but all of them will rebound eventually, because mortals cannot judge other mortals and using curses is a type of judgement,do yourself a favor never use a curse let the one that you wanted to curse drown in his/her own curse.

i wish there was more books and things about curses to teach people, but i can see why there isn't, you don't want just anyone getting a hold of them. myself, not all curses are bad, i feel sometimes you're helping karma, say if someone is mean and keeps stabbing people in the back, then a chant or something little to bring bad luck is helping karma.

I think it also really depends on the individuals views, and their specific practice, beliefs, etc.

To give an example: under traditional Norse concepts there is no such thing as karma or a debt. They have the concept of wyrd and orlog- the general principle there being "what you do most often is likely to be what will happen to you". And I doubt anyone who isn't practicing Heathenry/NTS would follow that idea. The same as how a Heathen isn't likely to listen to the idea of karma or the threefold law. Under this concept, most Heathens would say cursing is acceptable, even cultural in many cases (as seen with the nidstangs and with flyting), so the idea that a curse must be evil or fully bad would seem ridiculous to most of us.

I've put similar curses on items but I usually go with they feel guilt until it's returned to me. It's not a guarantee that it'll be returned, but in my experience, works most of the time.
