That sounds very similar to swim bladder disorder. This can actually happen for a multitude of reasons, the most common simply being that the fish is eating too much too fast or has gulped down too much air. It's actually common in your type of fish. My recommendation is that you still call the vet. In the meantime, lower the amount of food you are giving (or don't give for a day or so). Increase the temperature, only slightly. And lower the water level if it is having buoyancy issues. If the swelling doesn't decrease after a day or so without feed, you should really get it checked out. Best of luck to your fish!
