I'm new here, and I have a question, and its a dumb one but bear with me please. I've been studying Wicca for about 2 to 3 months, I'm not looking to dedicate myself just yet, since I am currently signing myself for the Air Force, I've been reading Scott Cunningham's "Wicca a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner". Now when I feel the time is right can I make up my own self dedication rite/ritual and it doesn't have to be all fancy? I was called ignorant and "transparent" by some guy and that I have to do it a way that was "passed down by generations etc etc.". I would appreciate the help, thank you for your time.

You can make your own if you want. You don't even really have to do one just pray to your Deitys and ask then to help you on this path.

while it's nice to have a ritual that's been passed down it doesn't have to be. it's just a ceremony, what it needs is your faith and whole hearted belief that this is the right path for you, and Wicca completes you as a person. without it, you're just reading some words off a piece of paper. my first self dedication was very simple, i had a salt water bath to cleanse me, after casting the circle i then told the Lord and Lady in my own words, why i felt Wicca was right for me, and i asked for their guidance. that's it. you can do another one later down the road if you want it more fancy, but it's not needed.
