Hurricane Isaac

As anyone in the United States is likely aware a hurricane is about to hit and likely cause power outages at least, and lives could be lost. If this website was religious based, though I know many members practice different religions, rather than magick based I would expect to see things like prayer requests on the forums especially after the hurricane hits. While I believe what will be will be I think that it would be nice for members to keep those in the path of the storm in their thoughts. It's not as if anyone no matter how skilled in magick could likely stop or even weaken a force of nature like this and maybe that's the way it should be, but keeping people in your thoughts doesn't take much effort and who knows it might help via the benefit of positive thinking. Anyway this post might be pointless but it can't hurt. PS. Maybe it's paranoia or intuition, but if anyway infers any form of disrespect from this post it is completely unintentional. I am happy this is a magick related site, I am not against anyone's beliefs as it is their life and their choices to live as they see fit, etc...

In one sense, I agree with you completely, and have already done ritual work for the safe passage of this storm. I also continue to send Reiki to the entir situation. At the same time you have to be aware that these storms are a natrual attempt of the Earth's attempt to achieve balance. There are all kinds of metorlogical (sp?) energies that are working at balancing themselves out. These things are going to happen. Now, I am not trying to lessen the risk or the sadness when something tragic happens during these events. But we do have to be responsible for ourselves, be aware of our enviroment, and know when to get the heck out of the way when it happens. I live on the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are a part of life here. In California earthquakes are part of life. Fact is there is no where in the world that natural disaster does not touch, in some form. You do what you can do to help others, and life goes on.

One point here to consider. About 7 years ago, there was a group here in Houston with a message site. They supposedly did positive healing work. I will not say what type, because I do not want to reflect badly on practitioners of that art. Well, there was a little storm named Rita headed straight for Houston. So, they hopped on their message board, sent out emails, and decided "Let's use positive energy to protect Houston from the storm!" and so, they did whatever work they did. As it turns out, right before the storm got here, it turned away. Houston was spared. I was in Houston at that time. Not even a drop of rain. Awsome, right?

Well, before you answer, take this into consideration: About 100 miles east of Houston is an area called the Golden Triangle. The Triangle points are made up of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange, with about 10 or so smaller cities mixed through out and another 10 to 20 that are outside the "Triangle" proper. These towns are small, with businesses on the decline, a lower cost of living and in general a poorer population. I'm originally from there, and most of my family lives there, including my son. well, guess where the storm hit. You can look up the damage that Rita did to that area, so I won't go into it. I can tell you that after 7 years, that area has not recovered, and probably never will.

Houston has survived hurricanes. Ike, a few years after Rita, came right over Houston. I stood outside as the eye went over the city. Houston survived, was able to rebuild, and is still the 3rd largest city in the nation. It was, and is, much beter prepared to handle a natural disaster than it's neighbors. So, did the group fully understand what they were doing? Could their work, done with the best of intentions, ultimately prove to be disasterous? How many did they hurt by doing what they did?

I do not know, and I do not mean to point the finger at anyone. maybe that was just where the storm was supposed to go. Maybe not. But they were proud that they had "saved Houston". No reguards to the consequences of their actions. In reguards to your post, I would say that a wise one would get out of the way of such a disaster, and help others to do so, rather than try and direct forces that you don't understand.

As always, just my opinion.

LVX,

Shawn.

I completely agree going back to the comment I made about nobody being able to, in my opinion stop or weaken it and maybe that's how it should be. I didn't post this to get people to try and stop the storm but more in the hopes...well I'm not exactly sure why I posted it. Maybe I'm hoping that it might lead to those who are spared fatal injuries but injured recovering faster. To be honest I don't know if my post has a point. I don't expect people to start casting spell to stop the storm or want them to as messing with such a powerful force of nature or nature period isn't smart. I believe what will happen will happen regardless of any interference by anyone.

We won't get the hurricane coming straight through our state (unless it changes course again) but we will still feel effects from the hurricane. Already there has been a tornado related to Isaac in Florida. So I expect for there to be likelihood of tornados here. So far we have had some heavy rainfalls.

I'm jealous, Vanity. We have not gotten our rain yet. If it doesn't change coarse that's all we'll get up here a bit more north state of you. I wish my visit could have been during the storms. I dont feel they will get too bad. I know I've seen much worse. I could be wrong though. It is possible it will get messy.
