Satanism.

Hello,I've read and heard a little bit about real satanism(i say real because a lot of people prabably think it is what you see in horror movies, but i know it's not)and i'm curious to know more about it,i know that there are to main types of satanism, one being symbolic and the other being spiritual,i'm curious about spiritual satanism,i know that when they say satan, they don't mean the biblical anti-god,they mean the energy of the univers or something like that and that they honor/work with pre-christian deities(which leads me to asume that they are see as incarnations of the satan they do believe in),so what i want to know, what is the difference between satanism and luciferianism, how do spiritual satanic rituals work and what are some authers of books about spiritual satanism/luciferianism besides Michael w. ford, and i also know that it is a very free belife based path if you know what i mean by that, thank you for your time.

I am a Satanist i follow the teachings of Anton Lavey. Try getting hold of the Satanic bible, it is sold on e-bay and some bookstores, altho you will get quite odd glances when requesting the book. Also read up on Aleister Crowley such writing as The Book of Lies, The book of Law etc for anymore information and insight into Satanism please feel free to contact me there are of course sites i can direct you to if the left hand path of life you so choose to follow...

Darkest Blessings

Why is it that people associate Crowley with Satanism? He was not a Satanist and Liber al vel Legis (The Book of the Law) has nothing to do with Satanism.

Just have to point out whilst Crowley did influence satanism in some way (as he did with most other 'new' religions) he was not a Satanist and founded his on religion Thelema.

There are a few wise satanists and many more very ignorant ones.

When it comes to satanism, the problem is that many enter into it for the wrong reasons. They do it out of rebellion to their Christian families or because they think its "dark".

I disagree with luciferianism, because lucifer itself as an angel is nothing more than a fable created by Christians and it isn't even in old texts/myths. However Lucifer as a deity does indeed have credence but not credence to the religion. So to me, this is an anti-christian offshoot more so than a true satanic offshoot.

Many spiritual satanists like to mix and match myths of various cultures to paint the picture of their views. I don't agree on this, as some of these mixtures stretch the facts to a point of complete distortion. Stay away from JoyofSatan, as most spiritual satanist will tell you, they're a joke.

The one belief I can understand is basically Enki worship. So if you're interested in spiritual satanism, brush up on your Sumerian mythology. This is where the stretching begins as some satanists try to match Enki to other beings of other cultures such as Samael.

The best spiritual satanists are those with the most simplistic views in my opinion. La Vey, although a completely different branch of satanism, does define the personal ideals and attitude of satanists in general, without defining a "faith" but a way of life (philosophy). So you can say LaVey is the philosophy and anything past that point is up to personal opinion and debate.

Setism is another form of Satanism rarely brought up. Probably because it is a dark form of Satanism. It is the worship of Set (the destructive deity of Egyptian belief) and is in a way, the "Devil" of Egyptian myth.
