This has been happening a lot.I am on my third account this month. Hence, the name. I think there is some sort of glitch in the system.

It sounds like someone with administration capabilities ran your IP and banned each one by hand. I don't expect it to be a long time before this one of yours is banned to. Banning full IP's from making new accounts can inadvertantly prevent innocent people with similar IPs to be incapable of making accounts as well. So it is rarely done, and instead, done by hand. Understand that the staff of this site doesn't ban/gag for you to make another account. That is undermining their authority. It's like being told not to do something by a parent, being grounded and then sneaking out of the house afterward. Especially posting it here and complaining about being gagged, that's just pushing their buttons. If you're gagged and you make a new account. Keep your mouth shut and keep it to yourself. Learn from your mistakes and don't do it again.

From what I can see this site is stricked and it has been getting out of control a bit, but no one wants to admit it. Multiple accounts are not really allowed on this site but it really isn't much of a big issue unless you used on of your acconts to troll or upset a Mod. I would say more but if I upset a Mod than I will be banned for hurting their feelings.

Just keep your mouth shut and don't expect them to tell you what you have done wrong. It is almost an always chance that they will ban that account as well than give you the answer.

I really think people have the wrong idea about the Mods. If you are genuinely confused as to why a gag happened, I think you should be able to mail the mod (that you think was the one to gag you) and ask for an explanation. Notice I said ask, not demand. There's a difference. I generally tend to send an explanation when it occurs, and am willing to explain the rules to someone if they need it. No, they aren't going to get banned for asking a question. There's also a difference between asking a moderator nicely through mail, and bringing up the gag in the chatter/forum. It's been established that no gag-talk is allowed in the chatter, and a member can get in trouble for bringing it up there. I recommend not writing of it in the forum either. It's much simpler to mail.

Also, upsetting a moderator has nothing to do with gags or bans. Clearly you get gagged or in trouble when you break the rules. Mods personal opinions of members has nothing to do with this, and we strive to keep our interests out of our moderating around here. You don't have to watch everything you say, or limit what you say, on our behalf. However, the rules should be followed. And it is our job to enforce that they are. I don't think the rules are strict, or even that hard to follow, honestly.

Well Percy. That is correct, however, the mods do not always have the answer to why you were gagged. If Petrarca gags you the mods will not know anything. Trust me. I know.

Hello,
This site is not to play or say bad words,or be with an attitude this site is to learn the craft.

If you want to chat on things that don't belong to the craft why bother, go to facebook or another site. That is why they are gag

Hey Percy,

We've talked about this, so you know that I don't have anything personally against any mod. I have a problem with the autogag that has no way of being retracted. I still don't know what I did to either of my previuos profiles to get gagged. I understand if I break the rules or do something wrong, but just like mods are people, so are we. And if I don't know what I did, how can I keep from doing it again in the future. Hence why I have co rarely appeared in chat lately.

LVX,

Shawn.

Actually, Personafied, from what I understand, The mod that banned one of my friends had been makinf fun of my friend and been being rude to her but she quit SoM so I am not sure. I was gafged a couple times at first but I think I know why now and see that I had been disobeying the rules... but I think that every now and then, a mod might abuse thier power though I personally have not seen it happen. Just heard the stories .

To Tiredofgaggs and all of the other people who complain here about their gags although they do not know what they did.

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1944&coven=1

I recommend reading this article. It has many tips about surviving here, about how to be in the chatter without getting gagged, and many other informative things.

Here are some tips in addition to the rules explanations and tips that were given in the article i recommended:

Check out the message before you send it

If you want to manage to survive, you need to check your message before you send it to be published.
Why is it recommended?

  • Your message might include forbidden material which breaks the chatter rules. Sometimes we forget to pay attention to the rules and we break them. After sending such message, there is nothing we can do to fix the situation.
  • Sometimes one can accidentally be using caps. As you know, caps is against the rules so if you send a message which all of it is built by caps letter you might be gagged / auto gagged. Typing is something sneaky, you can be typing and not knowing what happens. I recommend not to press enter immediately after typing the message, check it out and avoid future accidents.

Avoid using metaphors

Yes, using metaphors might get you gagged.
Reasons:

  • The system is built to pick up behaviors and see if to pass a message or not. Using a metaphor might be considered trolling, and might make you auto gagged.
  • You might be considered trolling.
  • You might be considered role playing.

So simply talk normally, use simple words and keep having normal conversations. You do not need to use metaphors to explain something. This is really helpful and a recommended tip to follow.

Do not try anything funny

As said before, you might be considered trolling if you use metaphors, same about saying anything funny.
Remember that your jokes can end up with a gag or an auto gag.
Just behave as you always do and save the funny things for personal conversations with people.
Of course that you can be nice And generous to people, but do not over joke.

While dealing with trolls or any other things, try not to say anything rude

Let me tell you a situation for example:
A troll is spamming the chatter and making most of the serious members who chat angry.
What should you do?
Ignore the troll !If you will say anything rude or will yell at the troll willonly feed it, and you might be considered breaking the rules.
If you will try to stop the troll by saying funny things or feeding it you might be gagged because:

  • You can be considered as using violence and attacking a member.
  • you might cuss and get gagged for it .
  • The situation will get only worse and you will get angrier

So, with such situation or any other situations : Stay calm.
Ignore some things, and never attack a member although this is not what you mean to do...

Do not use too much emotes

Over using emotes might be considered as spamming. Use them from time to time, but do not just use an emote if it is not relevant to the conversation. Many people flood the chat with emotes, and do not know that this action is considered spamming.

Well, this was my input to the survival guide.

Also, people here say not to talk to much about it but they complain even more that the person who has opened the thread.
