I often get messages of or about similar things and, like you, instruct them between Hollywood/fake magick and that which is more real and correct. When people just say "no, that's fake, your a fluff" it doesn't help anyone and their questions remain unanswered. If one person has a "fluffy" belief, there is most likely to be others. Instead of just labeling and chasing them off, if they become a little less ignorant from being pointed in the right direction, they may do the same for the other misinformed beginners that they meet, leaving quite a few less "fluffs" running around...

More people need to pay attention to this! Growing up I always hated teachers who would mark your incorrect answers in homework or classwork, but who wouldn't write the correct answer. Why!? If I couldn't figure it out on my own before, what makes you think I'll be able to figure it out on my own now?

In fact, I'm pretty sure Albert Einstein would call you crazy for that ("Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results").

yes, one should keep their cool, and calmly explain how spells/whatever works in reality. sometimes though it is nessisary to snap if after 10 times they still refuse to admit they're wrong. i had a teacher who once told me there are three types of people:

There's a stove and you tell the person the stove is hot, don't touch it. The person will either take your word for it and they won't touch it. Even though you told them it's hot, they still want to see for themselves, so they touch it, get burned, and never touch the stove again. The third is the most aggravating, because even though they've been told the stove is hot, they will touch it, get burned, then touch the stove again in an endless cycle [or what Einstein said lol]

what i feel should be done [and i know it'll add another load of work onto the shoulders of the mods and admin] is make signing up a little more challenging. i know this is a place to learn, but ask things like 'what is magic(k)' will help us stop people who are here because they just watched charmed. or maybe if they answer 'it's cool' it might limit the things they can do here, like posting spells, or in the forums outside the intro section until they're proven to know the basics. it's just a thought.

No, I feel as tho everyone should be allowed on this site, because if they come here, while it is a burden to have to put up with there misinformation, it atleast stop the false info from spreading if we can teach them.

While I was at one point a fluf long before I even knew the term, or that this website existed, I thought that there was magic like in harry potter and in other movies. Then a few years later I find out that there isn't any such magic and have still kept my intrest in it so I continued to research in not soon after I found out that my mom and her house mate where both Wiccans, which helped me study to become a solitary Wiccan. So witht the wright teacher or guidence you can compleatly reshape the views on magic and how it is actually used. Many people need to become more teachers rather than bassicaly an ignorant bible thumper in Wiccan or witch form that wont explain why they are wrong or what their mistakes are

Unfortunately sometimes people only will hear what they want to hear, and no matter how much you try to point them in the right direction- they will choose to believe what they want and pursue that. Like you said though: the best thing to do is at least attempt to direct someone in a positive helpful manner. If they don't take the lessons you give them, or they continue to roleplay- that's on them, and that's their time they are wasting. Don't let it bother you too much or rob you of your time.
