Maybe try a spell rather than a potion. But you should talk to your parents about your trouble sleeping. It is a health issue and I'm sure they'll want to help. One thing that really worked for me with no magic was eating a bowl of wheat chex with 2% milk every night before bed. I have no idea how it works, I read it in a natural remedy book.

I doubt this classifies as a potion but before bed, if you can, get a glass/mug with milk and add honey. Warm it up and drink it. Since both are mild bases, it could help you go to sleep. (acids invigorate, bases calm-most of the time). If you are allergic and/or lactose-intolerant, then eat some bread by itself. It's less effective but it could work.

Okay this may be above my head but what does drinking tea have to do with being Wiccan? I am sorry but there are many people that drink tea, many of which who have never even heard of Wicca. I don't think drinking tea to help you sleep will get you into any trouble nor alert anyone to your spiritual preferences.

A good cup of chamomile tea will certainly help calm the nervous system and help you fall asleep, just as well as many other types of tea. If teas don't help you can always go for something stronger such as a tincture or glycerite perhaps Valerian root or Passionflower.

I don't suggest eating bread before bed, as bread is a carbohydrate which is basically the body's metabolism source of energy which will just keep you going. However certain fruits can help people sleep such as a banana eaten about a half hour before bed.

Other things to keep in mind if your having a hard time falling asleep: Don't drink any form of caffeine at least two hours before bed meaning no soda pop, coffee, or energy drinks and even some teas are caffeinated so be careful especially regular black and orange teas bought from the grocery store such as Lipton's. Another thing is about an hour before bed stop all activities that require attention and higher levels of awareness, tasks that require you to focus and pay attention are stimulating to the mind and make it hard for the body and mind to start the sleep cycle. Also it could help to keep as many lights off as possible only have the dimmest light you possibly need, as light is also a stimulant and affects the rods and cones in your eyes which process what you see, the cones reflect light, so the less light the better. Also you could give a go at a restful mediation, in which the sole purpose of the meditation is to help you relax and put your body and mind in a restful state to help induce the sleep cycle.

Anyway I know that's a lot to think about and digest but I seriously hope you are able to find a solution and get some decent sleep, we all know sleep is not only important but it is so relaxing and peaceful, something I am sure we all need to do more.

Green Blessings,

Othala

You could purchase some Valerian tincture, or I suggest make a tincture Yourself, from Hops, Valerian and Melissa ( 3:1:3 ) , that one should smell decently.

About 20 drops in Your cup of milk, warm watter , or simply on a sugar cube, taken hour before sleep will put You out very nicely. Not a potion though, but a herbal remedy :)

And You can add these drops discretly so that no one can see. You can order them in any pharmacy even , or at organic/natural / healthy food shop s and they should be rather inexpensive. They'll make it for You , If You lack ingredients or time to make them Yourself. Single ingredient tinctures You can buy right away :)

My Christian family drinks tea

My aunt even makes her own tea so I highly doubt they'd assume anything from it

tea is a potion, a potion is any liquid spell technically. you can make teas and tell your parents it's a hobby, i make teas and sell them, they're not potions. if you want you could buy some sleepy time tea and say a chant to make it into a type of spell. why does it have to be a spell? if you're having trouble sleeping, tell your parents you heard of a tea that helps people sleep, it doesn't have to be a spell, the reason a tea would work is you're using herbs that are known to work.

Ginger + Green Tea. Chinese recipe for sleep. Or if you need to, take an herb called "Melatonin". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin

For an average person, it relaxes your mind, preserves your body, gives you the ability to sleep without taking medication or using a spell.

Try it.
