Drawing the pentagram

I am needing to clarify a few things about drawing a pentagram on the ground for the divine banishing spell found here on SoP. It calls for a 9 foot pentagram that the points of it are nine feet from the center of it. This would be an eighteen foot pentagram using my logic and was wondering if the directions have a typo and the pentagram should actually be nine feet from point to opposite side of pentagram? Or four and a half feet from center out to each tip of a point? Also I would like to know which direction the top point should be? North, south, east, west or maybe a general direction of (??) ? When is the best time of day and part of the month to draw a floor pentagram? Any other useful suggestions for drawing the pentagram that would help propogate success in rituals are much appreciated too.

The directions of the points often vary depending on what particular tradition the spell is coming from. If it has significance to you, and your tradition, use a specific direction. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

The size is similar. The 9 foot dimension is likely used due to the number 3 and the value often attached to it within various sacred traditions (9 is 3, three times). Interpret it as you see fit. Most such works are not exactly like a recipe, where your dough won't rise if you don't do it correctly. It's more a suggestion or interpretation born of experience, or other individuals' work.
