If it was like a Facebook app it would just be going to a mobile version of the site via the app which sounds pointless as there is already browsers on cells and a mobile version of the site I never use on my mobile because the site is less useful in the mobile version such as being harder to navigate and to my knowledge no chatroom.
There is a chatroom in the mobile version and you'd be surprised at how many people use it. More so don't because it doesn't sit right with the programming of the device they are using. Quite frankly, if an app were made for the Android and IOS market, it actually would work for those using it and would garner in more traffic from people who do use devices with those programs.
The issue appears to be along the lines of it risking all this time and energy just to make something that might bring a few more people in (especially if the site has a unique coding as I've been told). Truthfully, some more marketing and it could be pulled off pretty darned well. Now the question would be if Petrarca wants to make something like that.
