I eventually evolved beyond that though, I no longer need a corner, and I now understand that I was using life energy to create them, and that the "traits" i was giving them was subconscious programming.
but yeah, its still a very good spell for beginners.
However servitores ( though rather rearly ) can indeed become dangerous. Yust check "Psyhickal self defense" by Dion Fortune. There were cases ( accordin to this world wide highely respected autor ) that they were created by ppl , but being unaware of it.
However , My ppl has an old saying ; Mind is a empereor , and strenght yust a worker. Which means that mind has power over mattery that we control , thet includes energy formed into servitores by it.
In the end , there is always absorbing ritual . So I dont belive L gave away dangerous "spell". As old grimoires say: Truth is not for the ones who cant understand it, or who would corruptit in any way => even if some kid , that has no magickal experience would try that , it would probably end up just bored .
Creating Servitors (also known as Thoughtforms or Constructs) is NOT dangerous. If you give them an intention that is negative, sure--it CAN become dangerous. If you give them their own mind (ie. allow them to evolve), then it CAN become dangerous.
But Servitors (Thoughtforms, Constructs) are not, in themselves, dangerous creatures to create.
I know someone who have created their Servitors (basically as an Astral Familiar), the the Servitor actually saved someone else's life (twice in fact).
They are just like anything else in magic--if handled incorrectly, they can be dangerous. The same as a knife---if you don't know how to use it, you can poke someone's eye out---but you don't see people cutting bread with spoons now, do you?
