I've read what everyone is posting here, and would like to throw my two cents into the ring as it were.

Fact: Time travel is, in general, quite impossible for anything larger than a subatomic particle

Fact: Time travel is possible in certain conditions, ie going faster than the speed of light, undergoing immense gravitational forces which compress even time (such as in a black hole), or when a massive amount of energy is suddenly released (such as in a pulsar/quasar)

Fact: Energy does not follow the natural laws which apply to matter.

Theory: Time may not be a steady flow, but rather something more akin to a loop or mobius strip.

Given the above three facts and one theory, I would then posit that, while it is well outside the realm of probability, even for the most powerful of spellcasters, to travel back in time, writing it off as utterly impossible is not an appropriate view to take. There are several ways it -could- have been done, even given what we accept as possible, such as via astral travel or through an alteration of ones mental state (the mind, being mostly energy, could travel back in time just as easily as the astral self) and yes, it is, though so unlikely as to almost be entirely discounted, possible that the physical body could have traveled back in time. Even I, who support the possibility, however will rule it out, as all methods I can think of, given what I have listed above, for traveling back in time, would quite thoroughly destroy any physical body which made the trip.

Physically I do not buy this. Some forms of AP would makes some sense about this (though still not completely). I think to get good answeres you need to post more details about your spell.

... you wrote the time you wanted to travel to, put it under your pillow, and that moved you through time?

Seriously, that's simpler than the preparation of a lot of microwavable meals. If time travel is really that easy then why has it only been accomplished by you?

I think it is some sort of AP or he just saw back in time.

wait what??

You put the note under your pillow and you went back in time O.O

Mankind has tried to travel in time by building huge advanced machines, but failed and your saying that you traveled in time by just putting a note under your pillow with the designated time of year and *puff* you went back in time.

Surely you know how impossible and un-logical this whole concept sounds...I mean c'moon O___O

Everyone's saying time is a straight line, that it's from cause to effect. It's more "Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey" and, yes, I just quoted Doctor Who, but that's not my point.
Time has a specific loop, many loops, actually. It can "run in to" another point in time and create sightings from the future into the past, and the past into the future. The first documentation of when this occurred was in the Victorian Era, when a man going for a stroll was confronted by a sighting. What he saw was a man dressed in a little more of an older drab, also like that of in the army. It was like a quick full body mirror, and the man in the olden garb was described to have a surprised look on his face. When this man went home to tell his friends, they joked about how the man in the past was able to have insight into the future.

It actually is able to travel through time. There is a scientific theory about wormholes, and magic itself can promote this possibility. It takes more energy than some spells, but it IS possible.
Also, if you are thinking about how it's not ordinary to travel in time, you're wrong. It is possible, but mainly you only travel at a total of second per second. Other people have been able to, subconsciously, travel at a rate of two seconds per second, etc.
So to answer everyone who thinks time travel is not possible,
YOU ARE WRONG.

And, anyway, everyone thinks "If there were such thing as time travel, we would know"
Not necessarily. There are other timelines, other universes, other worlds, etc. We live in one, so, IF time travel were possible in the future, we would most likely not know. It would be almost impossible to create a functioning time machine to stay on one timeline, meaning we would be all over the place, and, because there are so many timelines, you could "return" to "exactly" where you were. You would actually have ended up in a separate timeline with people who are exactly like the ones you know, but they are entirely different people, and that version of you could have accidentally traded places with you, or a threesome, foursome, etc.

This concludes my time rant. I'm sorry about the tone.
