warlock849 I very clearly said that the newcomer with Astrology and Tarot can choose the direction in magic.
Example:
Aries (23.03-20.4)
Of all the signs of the zodiac when he is able to use almost all kinds of magic to achieve their goals. But best of all Aries get charged both positive and negative energy of water, food, clothes. He is able to read the additional information from the photographs, letters and personal belongings. Moreover, vyplesnuv a huge portion of energy, he often immediately forget about the magic act, which has just been committed. And then wonders why, after he had prepared dinner privorotnye loved one, the strange looks in my eyes and waiting for something ...
You can also tell fortunes in the Tarot cards.
Newbie needs to know in which direction it move.

well dear it really depends on your beliefs. But a list of some must learn things for beginners is the so called "basics".
The basics involve:
Meditation(as you mentioned)
visualisation
grounding
centering
shielding
energy work
days and moon phases
history of paths and mythology

That's what I offer to my beginner students.
Feel free to mail me even though I might take long to answer since I m pretty busy lately.
Blessings

some times when i first started to study the craft my famly and freinds wanted too know what is it so hard to deal with

but what i had to learn was simple but we have to rember all the rules that ancectors put down in stone and these rules mean so much to new witches also has to learn about free will and good and evil
but your powers will come to you and if let it and if you belive in your self it your spells would have to belive in your powers and every thing else

Many people just starting out have this instinctive need or desire to be taught by someone else. I think that in the beginning, although it is helpful to have someone quide you, I personally don't think you absolutely need a teacher or mentor.

Nowadays there is so much information on the internet, and libraries of knowledge that, if it weren't for the internet, many of them would not be available to the average practitioner. I suggest buying or downloading several books on meditation, visualization, and a book that gives you a basic understanding of magic.

The book Earth, Air, Fire & Water by Scott Cunningham was helpful for me, I took notes and still brush through it on occasion. Remember that not everything will be given to you, and to truly learn you will have to do some hard work yourself. Especially when it comes to attaining knowledge on specific areas of magick - that is something that should be gained through personal experience.
