You dont nessasarly have to learn lucid dreaming to astral project. It makes it easyer but you dont have to.

In dreams whenever I move from one place to another and nothing happens imbetween I instantly skip from one location to another. So I find it helpful to ask myself how i got to be where I am. When awake, that way when i realize that I dont know how I got somewhere I know I am dreaming.

Redcat it is normal, if by weird you mean feeling a little bit dizzy and unfocused, though if you are getting things like head aches and stomach aches that is not normal, and you may want to look into why that is happening

Im not totaly sure what you mean by that. But for me I see diffrently when I lucid dream and when I astral project. When I lucid dream everything is very clear as clear as the physical world. When I astral project I dont see as clearly, I can make out stuff like knowing im walking near a tree but I cant see the actaul bark and details of the tree that well.

wow lovelyangels, nice.

i know more about dreaming than AP myself. you don't need to lucid dream, it could help in theory though. lucid dreaming is knowing you're asleep and training yourself to bend it to your will so you can do whatever you want in your dream. it's fun and i really like it cuz i know when i'm about to have a nightmare and i wake myself up.

AP however you need to relax to the point of falling asleep, then once you project you just think of a place and you're there. it's kinda harder to lucid dream imo than AP, because you're awake. lucid dreaming means you have to realize you're asleep, so eventually you have to give yourself cues or realize things are different in your dreams [see Inception] myself, as a kid when i realized i was dreaming, i'd make things go my way, and if they didn't i threatened to wake up. in nightmares if the lights don't go on, or when i turn on a light it's rather dim, i know it's a nightmare, so i shut my eyes tight and when i open them, i'm awake.

You need to learn how to enter a trance, not necessarily lucid dream (although lucid dreaming came naturally to me as a child and so did astral projection when I first began using it). I find that people who cannot "let go" of their bodies is due to the fact that they have not entered the higher state of consciousness necessary and are merely still "meditating".
