Breaking the connection

Let us assume that a consecrated tool, one you are very energetically connected to, has been stolen. Let's also just go ahead and assume that you won't be getting it back.

How would you go about severing the connection to the tool and, if possible, de-consecrating it?

This post almost became a problem of mine when my BoS was almost stolen. Luckily it was burned first. Most of my things have visual protection, things only other magicians could crack or see. If the object that's been stolen was stolen by a normal person unaware of its magical importance, don't worry about it. If however a magician stole your object, I would cast a protective circle, and will your object to either be lost, destroyed or for its power to be released. Just imagine your object. Then picture the energy draining out and it becoming a plain old rock, amulet, stick, whatever.
