It is true that not all males in Wicca are gay. In fact in the first coven to which I belonged we were split about 50/50 male and female. Almost all of the people in the group of 30-some were married or in committed heterosexual relationships. Only one of our male members was gay.

Nor is it true that Wicca is a "women's religion" or that it is matriarchal. Wicca is all about achieving a balance of male and female entergies...and that includes between the High Priestess and the High Priest. In fact at its heart, Wicca is a fertility religion where the source the energies that power all of Creation arise from the relationship between the God and Goddess, male and female.

Well I'm not gay, but I'm not straight, however I do agree with TheBright as Wicca can be more open with anyone, regardless of religions. Also for some that are stereotyping homoesexuals, there are way different homosexuals out there, like heterosexuals. Feminine, masculine, you name it.

I do have to admit Wiccan does lead more to the female dominance. Yes there is a Horned God but frankly hes hardly mention and most don't even perform rituals to him. I find the abrahamics are to much on male side as well. Its the same age old ridiculousness of supposed gender stereotypes. Frankly i though we got past this but it looks like its only getting more idiotic.

Oh lawdy. Well, a lot has been said already, so i will just go ahead an give my 2 cents.

The fact that anyone following a set path or religion could dictate ones sexuality is, well, ridiculous. To say that because somebody believes something, and follows that something, means that they must like the same gender as their own is, as i said, ridiculous. Whomever said that obviously has no idea what they are talking about and should not be listened to on the subject. So, i must respectfully disagree with that statement. Although i have not had many interactions with members of the Wiccan community, being a more solitary practitioner myself, I can say that the split (at least from my experiences) of gay vs straight practitioners is about 30/70 respectively.

As mentioned before, It may seem like at times there are a lot of gay males practicing Wicca, it is of course a lot more accepting than most of the world's major religions. That being so, it does seem reasonable to most gay males to believe in something that is going to accept them for who they are, and embrace them for everything they are and will be (sounds pretty damn enticing, eh?).
Also, like mentioned before, Wicca is indeed about finding a balance between femanine and masculine aspects of onself, nature, and everyday life. Even this being so, I do feel, and this is just from my personal experience, that the religion of Wicca is more female oriented, or rather, it leans towards more of a femanine energy/energies. Therefore, some gay males who wish to be/ or are more in touch with their "Femanine side" are more gravitated towards it. However this may not be true for everyone.

Another point i want to make, and this is just from my personal experience and is not a stereotype at all (and does not include everyone), Wicca is a very sociable relgion/belief system. It is very different than say, going to church and meeting people there, a lot of the time if you join a coven, they are like a second family. In my experience, gay males are very sociable (not all) and naturally may be attracted to the social outlet that wiccan covens offer.

To all who got offended by this, you should really read the original post and quit giving the OP dirt >_>.
Also, if you have an opinion on gay... whatever, here is not a place to state it, this is a discussion about the statement/stereotype: "All male wiccans/witches are gay [homosexual] "

Thank you

I am a bi wiccan student and even i say no. the person that said "all male witches are gay" simply was not a good thinker. See, when i say "witch" most people think female, so when you hear "male witch", the "witch" part translates into feminine so you have "male feminine" which translates into gay, and the root word "witch" remains. Thus you now have "gay witch".
