actually its more like making a machine then having a slave. your creating something that is not living and obeying your will. a slave is a living thing forced to do your bidding.

in theory, you could be able to summon a spirit, force it to possess a man made body, and then assert your power over it, but as Neko said, its unethical. it would probably take a lot of time and definately alot of energy, but ive never heard of anyone doing it outside of religion or legend.

I once read a scary story about a guy who made a golem. It tore down his entire house and when he finally destroyed the golem so it would stop, it fell on him and he died. The moral of the story is, this is probably impossible and even if it is, it's not a very good idea.

I once read a creepy story about a golem but in mine, the golem ran out of tasks, so he killed his creators father and threatened to burn the house if his master didnt give him a job.So he told the golem to go into the park and keep the kids busy. the kids annoyed the golem so much, he removed the peice of paper keeping him alive! the story said children now use the statue like a junglegym.

does the golem grow a bit bigger every day in your story, because he does in mine and he ends up being like 10 feet tall. Another reason why it's not a good idea to make a golem.

The creation of golems is outlined in the Sefer Yetzirah, the Book of Creation. This book is generally grouped with Kabbalistic texts, and it describes the mystic way to create a golem. The mystics believed that God's spoken words were the origin of the creation of the world. These were not words as we know them, but instead were a system of pronunciation based on the letters of the Hebrew alphabet (i can teach you them, i have been studying kabbalah for many years). The Hebrew letters have substance within the world, which can be harnassed to generate great power. This power requires deep meditation which is believed by Kabbalists to assist in cleaving to God, thus getting a broader look at His plans for creation. Stories of success by using specifically the method outlined in the Sefer Yetzirah don't seem to be as popularized.
However, there have been numerous legends of Rabbis creating golems throughout history. Often, rather than recitation of the words of creation, the golems are created by hand from clay, and words of power are inscribed on paper or upon the forehead of the statue. The words of power are always in Hebrew and are things like the word "truth" or the name of God. They would also have phrases like "God is truth." However God's exact name is in some dispute, and could be anywhere from the four letters (with vowels removed) YHVH to a string of 72 letters. Until the words of power are removed or altered, the golem is granted life.

Initially golems were created to prove a Rabbi's mastery of the Sefer Yetzirah. This was a way to cling or cleave to God and hopefully gain further insight into God's plan. Some Rabbis even created golems in the shape of goats, and used these golems for sacrifice to God. The eating of a golem animal, even though it would have split hooves, would not violate the Torah because the golem is not one of God's creations but that of Man's. However, golems were soon used for other more secular purposes. As golems are bound to serve their creator, they were made to perform simple tasks like drawing water from a well or protect villages from attack.

Golems are often considered to be extremely powerful, and in today's lore control of them can be easily lost. The uncontrollable and destructive golem is likely a product of anti-Semitic views combined with the burgeoning of the scientific outlook in the early Renaissance, when Jewish mystical texts began to be translated into Latin. Prior to this period, the golem seems to have no existance outside of the mystic texts describing its creation. The uncontrollable golems are loosely confined to those which were forced to perform menial tasks. These tasks would show an impurity in the purpose of the creator and would be against the set tenets for spiritual purity in golem creation. The longer the golem is used for such impure purposes, the larger it grows and the more unwieldy it becomes.

Recently golems have been used in fantasy stories to protect treasure, in tv shows to exact revenge upon murderers, and in horror novels as a child's worst nightmare. They have been attributed as inspiration for Frankenstein and other important works. The golem seems to be inherently evil by today's writers. It's likely this stems from religious teachings that man can not emulate God without suffering dire consequences. In addition to this, soulless creatures, like the golem, are often considered an abomination. The lack of a soul always seems to suggest a cripplingly low intelligence, with no moral standard to prevent any depraved acts. Something essential is missing, and such a creature can't "live" long without sinking below acceptable standards of society.
According to legend, there are an almost infinite variety of ways to create a golem. They can basically be categorized into two forms. One method is to construct the golem from clay and put some kind of inscription on or in the statue. The second method involves reciting the words of creation, either those outlined in the Sefer Yetzirah or the name of God. Below are the ingredients for a common variation from each of these major categories.
To make a golem from clay:

writing instrument
pure white robes
purified clay
purified dust
purified water
purity of purpose
To make a golem from thin air:

22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet:
aleph
bet
gimel
dalet
heh
vav
zayin
chet
tet
yod
kaf
lamed
mem
nun
samek
ayin
peh
zadi
qof
resh
shin
tov
purity of purpose (if you need help with the letters, contact me here : starwitch@walla.com).
For both kinds of creation, be sure you are both physically and spiritually cleansed. Be sure to take part in immersion at a mikvah. Everyone prefers a clean kitchen.
Creating a golem from clay:

Creating the golem from clay will take several hours. Be sure to start early in the day.
Read the ingredients

While wearing the pure white robes, mix the clay with the dust and water until you have a slightly malleable substance. Be sure to not use so much water that the clay can no longer hold its form. Be sure to save some of the water.

Use your bare hands to carve the figure of the golem in the clay. Pray to God for success while forming the clay. If the clay begins to harden as you're still molding, sprinkle it lightly with some of the purified water.

When you've finished the form of the golem, let the statue stand for a few hours to harden slightly.

Using the writing instrument, enscribe in Hebrew the word for truth, EMETH (), on the forehead of the statue.

Notes:

The golem's clay will continue to harden and may crack slightly. Covering the golem with a damp cloth will help prevent these cracks.
Be sure to maintain your purity of purpose for the length of the life of your golem.

Creating a golem from air:

Creating the golem from air should take approximately 30 minutes of unbroken concentration [*] .

First, combine each Hebrew letter with all of the other letters except itself starting from the beginning of the alphabet. Do not recite those pairs that are mirror images of previously recited pairs (e.g. aleph-bet, bet-aleph). This should give a following sequence (using English letters):
AB, AC, AD, AE, AF...
BC, BD, BE, BF...
CD, CE, CF...
YZ.
There will be 231 basic letter pairs or gates.

Then combine each Hebrew letter with all of the other letters except itself, but start from both ends of the alphabet. Again, don't recite the pairs which are mirror images of other pairs. You should get a sequence like the following:
ZA, YA, XA...
ZB, YB, XB...
ZC, YC, XC...
ZX.
This will yield another 231 letter pairs or gates.

Notes:

Be sure to recite all pairs in one sitting.
If you recite a single pair out of order, restart from the beginning.
Correct pronounciation is a must!

* This calculation assumes the speaker takes two seconds to recite each letter, of which there are two letters for each pair and 231 pairs which must be recited forward and back.

I have never made a golem and i can not promise you this works, but there are few success stories and it depends on your beliefs!
Good luck!

Note: what i gave you might not work, this appears in the jewish mythology and as you know most of the mythology is not realistic.
I personally do not believe you will do something, i just gave you instruction by the jewish beliefs that are studied in special places for teaching bible.
This is mythology, and most of the chances it will not work, but you can give that a try :) !

i read a book on necromancy and from what i gathered the golem needs to be made of mud or clay and necropolized material like grave dirt... now you make the doll mixing your mediums together and you'll need wires to poe it i guess the term would be like a wire up for spine then ones so you can pose the arms.... now the book said it doesnt take anthers soul or ghost or energy, but given life out of death and the book went on to describe some encounters with the golems. nothing too outrageous, like its arms wil move despite the wires and some have reported to be in different spots a little or the sound of little feet. i have not mde one i may eventually. but my book i read the something like the necromantic ritual book i believe... blessings hope i helped....
