This thread is exactly why I have stopped posting, and only answer mail. I still read the posts, and when I come across somebody who seriously wants to learn, I send them a mail message.

I haven't started much here, or in my own Coven forums, in a while.

I tend to respond to other people while I multitask, to distract myself from the dreary nature of the day.

If I can get life less busy, I'll be working to ask more questions of people and try to provide some random tidbits of knowledge.

I completely understand where you, Brysing and AwakeTooLong, are coming from. And it's members like who, who are both knowledgable, that have interesting and relevant things to add to the forums. But unfortunately said members are often not listened to. I know you both get aggrivated at the nonsense- and it can be quite a constant struggle, but there will always be those members who appreciate and value the information you have to offer.

I personaly agree with the merging of the threads. far more easier to do. I have seen other sites like this, do a merge of threads and it cleaned up the boards.

If more threads were stickied I think it would help. Topics that can be consistently added onto and GOOD "hot topics" should be pinned up so that the fluffy garbage is consumed by itself. If there is a post of the day/week it should be a sticky that can grow and be seen.

When I administrated and moderated, it was very important to rotate and control the stickies. When a topic became old and outdated, I removed it. When a topic was excellent and/or had potential to go "hot", I'd pin it.

If new members try to ruin pinned topics, the topic should be "cleaned up" by deleting spam posts.

I agree with the post a day, as deliliah had said. I also think it's a good idea for there to be a certain area where all the fluffy posts can go. So we won't lose members and whatnot, but we will still have organization and a place where everyone can learn more. Very good ideas in here. :)

Great ideas, White and Amber! I could definitely see the potential benefits of utilizing those suggestions.

Question: What if we add a sticky of FAQs to answer them before they post? Good idea?

They are stickied in various places throughout the forum and then ignored by folks until they are referred to.
