All of you keep talking about DNA, Science, and how impossible it is. You'd rather down it than answer it. What if they just wanted the appearance? Have anyone of you even thought of that? Stop blathering and critizising each other! We are here to help and name calling isn't going to help anything. Why don't we get off our lazy butts and answer the question. All you guys do is complain and hurt other peopl. Now answer this question so we can get back on topic: What if it's just the appearance they are talking about?
Have anyone cared to ask this.No.

Keina why would the idea that you such a mix breed of things that do not exist on this plain?

First point to make if you really were why would you tell everyone on this site. It makes us serious about the practice of magic wonder if you are mocking us

Secondly. Learn about the things you speak of before opening your mouth please. It would save people time. And learn basic science.

Unirelivent, you just kinda made me sigh and my shoulders sag a bit. I'm not just blathering, or just trying to "down it." The discussion of everything I mentioned very much includes "just appearance." To develop any sort of physical trait you would literally have to reprogram your cellular growth to function in that way, rather than in the way that it currently functions.

Your skeletal structure would have to support any changes, your muscle structure would have to alter to include any tissue as well as to facilitate movement. Your skeletal system would have to develop to support this tissue, and your cardiovascular system would have to develop to sustain these tissues. Your nervous system would have to develop to regulate all of these other systems, as well as to provide you with basic functions such as sensory awareness to touch, heat, pain, etc.

This is all rooted in the building blocks of your cellular structure, or DNA.

You accuse me of being so negative, but you are blinding yourself by reading what I say and just getting angry. What I have described is not just what is necessary for you to function as such a creature, but also for you to continue living if you actually managed to make superficial changes to appearance. There is a reason why severe deformities often result in death or chronic health problems for those who suffer from them at birth.

Please do not accuse me of being negative and close minded if you cannot even read and digest what I am trying to honestly discuss without simply dismissing it. If you do not understand what I am saying, please let me know and I will try to put it in plainer English. I assure you I am not blathering, or just trying to be negative. It'd be awesome if we could actually change shape or become that which we most desire to be, physically. The world would be a colorful (and horrific?) place and I would love to be part of such a thing.

Unfortunately, what I've described in my "blathering" distinctly explains why it is not possible.

Why is people on this site (not all but a lot now a days) have involved them selves to much in science fiction. It saddens me. Some of the most knowledgable poeple on this site has tried to explain why it is not possible on this plain. And yet you wont listen to thier words.

Science and logic says it is not possible. That simple. Your dna is not that of a fairy werewolf or vampire let alone but it deffinantly is not both. This being said those species in themselves could not sucsefully reproduce. Sor

Then you would still require the same systems to sustain, or something to replace them.

This would result in further complications.

An insect, for example, cannot grow too large or else they would not be able to sustain within the current conditions of the earth, whereas in past eons their fossilized remains have shown them to exist much larger.

These are just the physical reasons as to why it is unlikely if not impossible.

You can also factor in the social ramifications. Other species would find it next to impossible to hide in plain sight, and otherwise pretend to be a human being, particularly with vast differences in physical appearance and so forth. If they were discovered at all, scientists would be all over them exploring them and why they exist and how they exist. If they were capable of causing great harm, the world's military's would take interest and they would find themselves the victims of such as well.

For these reasons alone, it would seem foolish to show up and proclaim yourself to be something other than human.

If you are speaking in terms of otherin, or the belief that one's soul is more attuned to the nature of such a fantastic thing, that is an entirely different matter.

To my experience in dealing with otherkin (I have worked with those claiming to be vampires, demons, fairies, etc. in the past), their spirit very much meets the common ideal of what the creature in question should be. However, it more commonly meets the currently popular version of what that creature should be. Generally, these qualities of spirit appear to be more a reflection of personality traits, much like a soul/spirit might be influenced in nature by the personality traits of any other human being. Another social/psychological aspect of the whole thing is that every such individual I have worked with has been one who was often quiet, overlooked by most people, or generally bored with life and wishing that they could be something, or somewhere, else.

Hmm... that was in response to: "What if we aren't all human?" which had been asked and evidently deleted. :
