my friend, dangerous things are how the human race found it place, but at what cost? even to us as a hole? please dont go comanding in names that u do not know the owner of, and preaching of mountains u cannot find, or even know where to look. sorry for the slightly poetic edge, but that is among the best of my advices..

Ego, thank you for that reference. That was one of the more insightful pieces I've ever seen backing up the Simon Necronomicon.

I would point out that I do say that the book stems from Babylonian mythology and other occult sources, but the Necronomicon itself is a fictional work. Somewhat of a metaphor, used to group together the exercises and rituals gathered that are along the same lines. I feel it is important for people to realize this, and it is often overlooked in favor of simply viewing it as complete truth.

actually it's closer to a compilation of rituals stemming off of the assyrian schools of magic and has roots in asiatic systems as well. One of the more interesting parts of the book details the full rituals and and proper names of the elder gods whom, oddly enough, had the names altered between the first translation some were around 1866 and the second translation somewhere around the time Simon got ahold of the book. Furthermore the actual work known as the necronomicon came about thanks to an unnamed text that has a close link between both the babylonian system, the assyrians, and some asiatic traditions and since it was so closely linked/entwined with the mythos of HP lovecraft the actual system and the works of lovecraft merged into the necronomicon we see on bookstore shelves today. So yes it is fiction for some parts, namely the writings of the supposed mad author, but the rituals themselves are from a rather old book, or more to the point a tablet, that predates both simon, lovercraft, and the real abdul alhazred by roughly a thousand years.

And to who ever said "sorry it's a work of fiction." I could easily say the same about numerous other texts ranging anywhere from the catholic bible, to some of the lesser known oriental schools of mysticism.btw everyone for the love of lucifer dont start another discussion on who's religion is real and whos isn't. I'm discussing the necronomicon not other religions atm.

the mythology of the book may be flawed but some of the rituals do work but almost anything will work if you believe in it enough so the books not 100% fake some of it does work
