Hello and Merry Meet everyone, i was looking around on the web to find out what natural treatments may help allergies at least some. I was wondering if anyone knew of any herbs that could be eatin that are good to help ease or git rid of a cold from allergies etc.

What kind of foods do you like to eat or drink when your sick?

I have used Black Elderberry to help support the immune system. It helps to reduce the symptons of a cold or flu.

Raw honey, especially if you can find one that is local. 2-4 teaspoons a day does it for me. Mix it into your favorite tea instead of using sugar. Or if you're not a tea drinker, smear it on toast.

I always buy raw honey. It has tons of healing properties. I do not recommend the YS brand. Although it tastes like honey, it smells very weird. Local is best for allergies, but if you can't find any local, as long as the honey is made in your same country in an area that has the same plants, it will still have the benefit of building up your immunity to it. All raw honey helps with allergies, cold, flus etc. But the true "cure" is eating honey that was made by bees who gathered pollen from your allergy source. Just two spoons a day, keeps the sneezes away (corny I know lol)

I also find that cold showers help when my allergies are going wild. I have an allergy to dust, and everytime I do major seasonal cleaning, I'm sneezing with red watering eyes for days afterward! But when I take a cold shower, it clears up in hours. If I take a hot shower, I get no relief. They're hard to get used to, but when you're suffering, desperation makes us do things we wouldn't normally do. And cold showers are great for you anyway.

Hi NightMoon,

Raw honey for sure. If you can find an unprocessed Manuka honey, that's amazing.. You can take a teaspoon of it in the morning. Or have it with lemon and hot water. Not only does it taste amazing, it's comforting as!

If you want herbs though, try a tea made of eyebright. Eyebright is not a great tasting herb, but works well. Once you have an infusion, and cooled down of course, you can use it for an eye bath if you have itchy eyes from allergies and hay fever.

Good luck!
