Bannock Bread?
By: / Knowledgeable
I was looking through the articles and found this

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1846&coven=6

I was wondering if anyone has tried this, if it is any good, and if you have different tested and tasty variations?

I love the idea of making my own bread. My grandmother taught me how to when I was very young. But I hate the hastle and length of time it takes. I don't enjoy cooking and baking, I enjoy eating the homemade food afterward! It always tastes better. This one is quick and simple so I'm liking it already.

I love making and eating Bannock Bread. Yes, it is very tasty.

Personally, I love it with seeds or cinnamon. I won't put in any cinnamon if I decide to add seeds, though. Nutmeg is also a nice thing to add into it.

A sprig of rosemary is also complimentary to the bread, if you like rosemary.

Thank you for responding.

How much cinnamon do you use? Would you agree with the recipe given in the article or is yours different? If so how?

I want to try this now. I'm just not an intuitive cook. If I have a recipe and I can do it. Leave me to my own devices, and I'm probably going to make bread that would serve better as a rock than an edible food.

From looking around the web for recipes and reviews on those recipes, I came across fry bread and realized that they are almost identical except that obviously fry bread is fried and bannock is not. =)

Now I really want to try this. My grandmother used to talk about her mother's fry bread (cherokee) and that she could never duplicate it. The reason was very simple. My great grandmother used her hands to measure and never had any measuring cups in her home. Of course this also meant it was never written down, but taught by handing it down orally and demonstrating it. My grandmother couldn't memorize "this much" and "that much" and wanted measurements that couldn't be provided.

Now I'm going to play with fry bread and bannock bread recipes. I'm picking up the ingredients tomorrow!
