All curses, regardless of what country or belief system they come from have the same general theme, to make their enemy miserable until death. There are three levels of cursing. The first is mischief, to cause someone discomfort in their lives (bad luck, "hex", or "jinx"). The second is harsher, to do damage to someone's life, to ruin them. And the last and most difficult is of course, the death curse.
Then there are the areas that can be chosen to affect the person: money, health, happiness, love, and sleep (dreams).
This seems to be a money curse of the first or second level. Unless of course, you haven't disclosed all information.
Since you know the name of this person, it can make it very easy to reverse this curse. But if you're not knowledgeable in this field, and the person who cursed you is, a "war" is the last thing you want. So it is best to just remove it and avoid the person.
I try to learn as much as I can about different curses and their general natures, not to cast them, but to break them. With neo-paganism booming, and magick being stripped of its secrecy, people abuse what should be sacred. In older days, most cursed others because they were dishonored or were a victim to an injustice. It was not taken lightly. If someone did throw curses around like candy, they were brought down. It wasn't about "you broke up with me and now I'm mad!" or "you have something I want so I'm going to hurt you" or simply "you made me mad!" as it is now.
I'm not going to suggest a "fix" to this, because removing a curse relies on YOUR individual belief. If you have doubt in something being effective, you've lost all chance of it being effective. I only remove such ill magick from people I know well/or meet in person and do so with complete success. But I've removed curses from people that I didn't know well, just for them to curse themselves by interpretting the first stroke of "bad luck" as the curse coming back. They didn't have trust in my ability and feared the curse so much, they then manifested their own ill luck through negative thinking. This builds up over time and becomes a snowball effect. A waste of my time and theirs.
So my advice is (1) find someone you trust to remove it OR find something within your belief system to remove it yourself (2) think positively and understand that once your life has been shifted in a downward slant for a long period of time, sometimes it takes time for the pendulum to swing back up again. Understand that bad things do happen in life, and it doesn't always mean there is a curse on you. If someone removed the curse, there is no longer a curse. (3) Attract good luck to you to counterbalance and bring your life back up faster. Again, this needs to be based off of your own belief and trust.
After this, it is up to you to decide what type of protection you wish to employ in your life. Every culture has them. Find one that you have full faith in.
May the spirits guide you. My blessing to you and yours.
