The term fluff or fluffy is an old term that actually refers to those who only believe in the love and light, harm none ideas of magic. The full name being fluff bunny or fluffy bunnies.
It has only been in the last couple of years that on this site it has been used to describe all the role playing, no idea what actual magic can accomplish, magic has no limits, want to be a magical creature, not serious about the craft members. These folks are just role players or possibility dabblers depending on there actual ideas and actions.
I would personally like the term to stop being misused. I don't agree with the rating system on the site. I feel that if the word fluff is going to be used in the ranking then there should also be a role player and dabbler status.

I sense that maybe you are talking from experience; and you sound quite so angry, as if somebody has called you a fluff yourself. Not saying they have, just what it seems like.
On some points I agree, some I disagree. I think the modern meaning of fluff, is somebody who is unwilling to learn (as Zeb said), and just wants a quick fix . Also those who say things that are absolutely ridiculous; such as 'I'm a vampire! I love to drink blood.' 'I am a fairymicroweretoaster.' and the list goes on.
Also, I think simply correcting people on facts that they have got wrong is fine. As long as they have actually got it wrong and there is science to prove what you are correcting them with is 100% true, then that is fine. Its simply informing a person that they are wrong, like when a student is incorrect on a maths sum in School.
In addition, I think that disagreements on chat makes for a good discussion- as long as people dont get too defensive and closed-minded about other people's views on their beliefs. I prefer to keep open minded, but if I do see somebody like: 'I'm a vampire!' I will certainly give my strong views on that or just give up and go to coven!
On the other hand, I agree on the point where you say when somebody does not agree on the common populace they are branded a fluff by other members with more of a good reputation and are well known- so people tend to agree with them more and do not stand up for whoever the other party is.
I'm sure you understand that many of us are very annoyed that our forums and chat gets polluted with actual fluff, not people just sharing their logical views.
As long as your views have a hint of logic, I wont complain. Unless I have something to add; but personally, I think we can all take something out of what others say, whether in disagreement or agreement.

Thank you Katie. I was actually surprised when I came here and found the term "Fluffy" applied to "crazy" or "lost in imagination" or whatever as well.
@Enchanter18, they didn't believe the world was flat. That is largely a myth propagated because it is easier to fit into history books than the indepth explanation of common misunderstanding vs. more educated philosophy and science. However, for you, it was the proof that everything you perceive is correct... because you wanted it to be. Similarly, it is quite easy to watch a candle flame move while you focus on it, hoping dearly that you will control its motion, and decide that you succeeded... With out taking into account all other factors that impact the flame.
While their are Buddhist philosophies and other concepts that touch upon the idea that all that is exists simply because we imagine it to be, at the same time much of such thought is entirely self indulgent. It is simply easier to believe that something occurs because you wish it than to contemplate that you have little to no impact upon the grand scheme of things (extreme circumstances, for sure... but they illustrate the point).
Master yourself, and then you master the world around you. Isolate that which you desire and wish to be from the equation, factor in all other potential variables... And even then, all you may have left is a solid theory. This leaves much room for debate about what is possible and what isn't, I will give you that.
When you begin impacting weather on the scale of hurricanes I expect the world to be natural disaster free.
if people dont trust videos on the internet and stuff like that then why do most people say show me the proof. also if other people who say im sick of reading stuff bout werewolves and stuff could also click the x in the right hand corner instead of saying names or calling someone crazy.last thing, if we all have a right to believe in what we want why do people automatically tell others to not listen to people with this kind of belief, if they want to know more bout something let THEM and then let THEM decide if it sounds reasonable to them. instead of just saying dont listen to them, even though most people who say stuff like that dont even know anything bout the subject.
Wulfgar, we all have the right to believe what ever we want... But we also have the right to steer impressionable folks who are genuinely seeking knowledge away from those who have a rather intense disregard for facts and logic.
