Wizards in History

Does anyone here think that a specific person in history was a wizard, or that an event in history involved magick? Just putting the question out there. Here's my response:

People: Nicholas Flamel (rumored to be an alchemist, grave found empty, suspected of discovering immortality), John Dee (the almost literal 007 of his time, servant to Queen Elizabeth I, chose the date of her coronation, his occult artifacts are on display at a museum in Britain with instructions on their use).

Events: WWII (why wouldn't it? Hitler collected artifacts believing them to grant supernatural powers.), the Cold War (the CIA has parapsychology divisions as just one example).

Magic has been being used by people since the days of our creation. And magic has been used to shape the world during times of war, natural disasters, etc

Grigori Rasputin can be considered one he worked for the Russian Royal Family in the early 1900's before he was killed.

Yeah, I've actually wondered about Rasputin. He gained incredible trust from the Czar's wife due to his "ability" to stop her son's uncontrollable bleeding (he had a condition that prevents blood clots from forming). He used his influence for his own ends and survived a ridiculous amount of assassination attempts. During the final attempt, they shot him, tied him up, and threw him in a river and he still managed to untie the ropes before he died (the book did not specifically say "drowned").
