Cryptozoology is not about vampires, werewolves, and such (at least the most professional branches shouldn't). It is the study of finding hidden animals. (crypto means hidden/ zoo means animal/ ology means study of). This means big foot, yetis, and other things like that. Not the wolf man and vampires. Big foot is probably the center of it all. Everything still follows the laws of physics. It would be like any other branch of zoology, but focusing on those animals that are hidden. Finding more evidence that such creatures do exist.

I hate that people are miss using the term and turning it into a fluff fest. I do not like cryptozoology because they are using very shaky evidence as a foundation. It is not a term used to describe the thoughts that werewolves and vampires exist like they do in the media. I am not familiar with the works of most cryptozoologist because it does not interest me. But I want to know....Are any of you? Any cryptozoologists like John W. Allen? Have you even heard of him before I typed up this little passage?

I knew that! Valid point. Bigfoot is the main thing of cryptozoology. And the hidden animal aspect is pretty important. It's all a mystery. I'm a skeptic but an interested person as well!

I agree with Espirit. You seem to be misunderstanding the term crypto zoology. This is the study of animals that there is some evidence to support they might exist or have existed. These animals have not only eye witness accounts but other forms of documented evidence such as pictures, videos, foot prints, etc. all of which are inconclusive. This is because there needs to be bodily evidence such as bone, hair, etc. that can be tested to rule out any other animal that has been know to exist.

Having a idea on how it would be possible for magical/mythical creatures to exist on this plane is fine but be careful that you do not confuse this with an actual scientific theory. A scientific theory must have viable evidence to support it. This is a done through documented observations and laws that express the relationships between these observations.

As for the possibility that werewolves, vampires, mermaids, etc. are existing on this plane or can be brought to this plane from another is slim. As with all things it is possible but not probable.
