what is with all the people asking for mentors . I mean i get its kinda hard to know where to start , but it really annoys me . I mean i learned all by myself why can't they just google something . And the people on SOM have made it easy by posting a thread with all the basics. Am i the only one that finds it stupid?

Some people learn better if there is human interaction involved. It's not stupid, it's just a different learning style.

It's difficult to distinguish what is valuable information and the pure bs. A mentor would help them to know what to believe and what not to, refer them to resources and answer questions along the way. We are, in a way, mentoring those on SoM by sharing our knowledge, but some enjoy one on one conversation. A mentor need not hold the person's hand and explain every single aspect of magick. They are merely a guide to direct the student in the right direction.

Everyone learns differently.

Some are born with knowledge, some derive it from study, and some acquire it only after a painful realization of their ignorance. But the knowledge being possessed, it comes to the same thing. Some study with a natural ease, some from a desire for advantages, and some by strenuous effort. But the achievement being made, it comes to the same thing. -Kung Fu Tzu (Confucius)

These people want to learn, and that shouldn't be discouraged. You and I taught ourselves, others desire guidance. There isn't anything wrong with either way.
