Just a though

I'm going to start by saying I know very little in regards to necromancy, so if my assumptions are wrong please correct me.
As I understand it Necromancy is the art of bring the dead back to life for the purpose of gaining knowledge and information from them. So, could an experienced enough Necromancer not use his art to keep himself alive indefinatly? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

It is not so much the art of bringing them back to life so much as it is the art of communicating with the dead.

There is more to it though. Necromancy in a modern sense explores the nature of death energy, in seeking to heal sometimes by ending negative cycles, expand the mind through enlightenment and understanding, so on, so forth. I'm not exactly an authority on it, but there are others around here that could help a great deal.

In modern time necromancy is used as a more general term to describe the pretense of manipulation of death, and generally has a magical connotation. Modern s?ances, channeling, Spiritism and Spiritualism verge on necromancy when the supposedly invoked spirits are asked to reveal future events. Necromancy may also be presented as sciomancy, a branch of theurgic magic.
