The only reason I keep bumping this thread is because it has not been stickied...it DOES need to be stickied...in fact, I wrote a thread similar to this before, but it was not as clear and detailed; a moderator said that it could be stickied if it was re-written properly. Now, as for the thing about a Comment...I took a direct quote for what the Welcome forum is supposed to be about...that description was written by Pet himself...and it says in the description of that forum, "Read these posts for general info"...if information about how to use a link is NOT "general info"...then I don't know what is. The Welcome forum does NOT say "Introductions only here" or the like. Now, this information is JUST as important as any other information; I know for a fact that it gets very frustrating to see broken links all the time (yeah, I know it's for security) so that is why there NEEDS to be listed somewhere EASILY ACCESSED on the site where people can find out information. If anyone has a problem, then mail me.

PS: It isn't "spam" to bump a thread every so often...if you will notice Awake, this thread is only bumped once every couple of weeks, maybe longer. So no, I haven't be "spamming" a bump.

It doesn't really need to be sticked. Links in the chatter aren't allowed so this could confuse some people. Also, if the person used some common sense and looked a the link, they would see there are spaces in it, just saying.

Okay, okay, okay. That's fine. Only thing I see is that many people don't have the common sense to remove the space (you have no idea how many time I will link someone in a Mail or in a Priv. Message and get the reply "the link doesn't work" or something like that. [very frustrating] ). As far as links in the main chatter...aren't people supposed to have read the rules and remember that? :-S

Thunor are you trying to make a name for yourself? I think you're succeeding.

Thunor, honey, relax :)

Ultimatums get you nowhere and you have a lot more to lose than me. Call it unfair, whatever, but that's the reality. No one on this site is beholden to anyone: not me, not you, not mods, no one, and putting demands on people like you tried to do with me is pretty much pointless - same if i tried to put demands on you. We have no responsibility toward each other except to be peaceful and follow the site's rules.

We are here for entertainment. I get no money for my volunteer role as a moderator. You get no money for your contributions as a member. I'm assuming we both have full and rich lives outside of this site, and getting upset over where a forum thread is moved to is really quite small considering the suffering going on every day in the world.

It is a good thread, thank you. We all appreciate people who take the time to make SoM an easier place to be around.

Had you asked about why the thread wasn't stickied instead of demanded that it be so, i would have told you that we can't sticky everything. Pet perfers no more than three to four threads stickied at the top of each section. Anything more is too cluttered. It is a tough decision as to what stays and what doesn't. Perhaps consider writing an article with this and other tips so that it will always be available for new people to read.

Had you asked me about where the proper place to post this thread instead of demanded that i re-move it, i would have told you that it's not a big deal. Mods and editors move posts twenty times a day. Unless you're spamming, we don't care if you put it in the "wrong" place because it takes two seconds to move it elsewhere - no biggie. It gives us something to do ;) No need to be embarrassed, annoyed, apologize, or feel afronted - again, no biggie.

All mods and editors have our own ideas of what goes where, and most of the time we are on the same page. When we make mistakes, it's because we're human and deciding where a post should go is a subjective decision, varying from person to person. Again, no big deal.

I agree that the Welcome section is a bit ambiguous. It most often gets used as a second Introduce Yourself category or a place for people to plead for teachers. The Welcome section as it's being used now is a hybrid of Introduce Yourself, Comments, and General Info. It was a fine choice to originally put your posting there - i just thought it was slightly more appropriate to put it into the Comments section.

Okay, that's five minutes of my life i will never get back lol - i think i've said enough. If i haven't addressed your concerns, feel free to contact me.

In Peace.
