For the newbie sake, Id like to bring up a few things.
We don't Have to worship a Deity, its a personal choice. If you want to practice magic without worship, you may.
That being said, you can either choose to worship a particular god(ess), a pair of them, or if you like you can give respect to an entire pantheon of Divine beings.
In ancient times people would have festivals that respected a specific god on a specific date, or a larger affair that was for the whole Divine group. They would also pray to individual gods for their intervention (ie to keep the home safe, a good crop, no drought, ect) and some would also have small shrines to personal Deities they felt connected to.
No particular way is right, wrong or even necessary. There IS a potential for a particular one or two Deities to take notice if you worship a group and grow closer to you as you grow to them. If this happens they may ask for specific rites or for more acknowledgement then any others you also give respect to, this would be the idea of them being your Patron(Matron).
Like most things its more how you go about it if you do, then If you do.
