Thanks Pet!

Otherwise, as a general rule of thumb, consider that the laws of magic are, quite simply, the laws of nature. If physics cannot make something happen then magic will not alter physics. That isn't to say it isn't possible that there is some aspect to physics we do not understand, but well...Believe what you want. Wish for what you want. The rules of nature will still get their way.

Concentration will not make you fly, no matter how much you wish it... Unless your concentration somehow overcomes the forces of gravity and helps you otherwise obtain thrust, lift, and similar such values. It will not make you teleport unless you can alter and shift your molecular structure, dissembling and resembling with perfect precision at a sub-atomic level at a speed faster than light, it will not help you create fire unless you can accelerate particles to a point that they ignite... Well, you get the idea.

Well I can half-way agree on the one star rating, but are there not one-star spells that actually work? Just because some spells may not get the best rep., does this necessarily mean that they are fake, "fluffy", spells?

Awaketoolong has it right. Witchcraft is a spiritual faith, as are all "faiths". When I am in "spiritual" contact with my Lord and Lady, I "feel" better. Light hearted, might be a better description. I sometimes sit amongst the graves of my ancestors, and I feel a "calmness", and more confident.
I was brought up as a Catholic, and, at that time, Church, and the Mass, was a very spiritual experience for me. Only later did I find out about so many lies!
A spell is a ritual wish, very much like prayer. I suppose the difference is that a prayer is "asking" for help from a higher power. A spell is a "Do It Yourself" exercise. And it also depends a great deal on meditation. It is the meditation that gives the Mind fresh ideas. Fresh solutions to problems.
But more than this, witchcraft is a "healing" faith. The use of herbs and potions, rather obsolete now because of the advances in medical science. But a witch can still "sooth the worried Mind". Help the afflicted to "believe" they will get better. And often to their own surprise, they do get better.
And that, dear friends, is magic! Witchcraft!

I personally found an interesting spell called the Realm Creation Spell, it is where you create a world in your mind, form its laws and boundaries, and then raise a spiritual being to match those boundaries and send it into the world created and go to that whenever you please in a medative state seeing both the being you raised and all the other beings of that world and how the nature works in this new world. I am trying it now, making the spiritual being or "kindred spirit" in a nine day process, giving him a name, history, and raising him to meet the qualification to live in the world of Netheros, the world I will soon be able to visit once everything is formed and solid. Is this spell fluff? Should I continue with it or leave it where it stands?

Thunor. I was trying to distinguish, for the sake of youngsters who may read this thread, between the silly role-playing "fun", and serious faith. How I, personally, feel about the Craft. And how it is not "making the lightning flash and the thunder roll"; it is actually (for me! ) very peaceful.

Creating your own realm is perfectly fine. Its a great way to get an artificial sense of astral projection in a safe environment that can be used for imagery in meditations. I like to imagine a world with perfect weather and a beautiful waterfall! Its great to meditate on in the cold winter months! =)

Creating a "friend" is a dangerous business. Energy is to be controlled not given freedom. Giving energy freedom is allowing it to go wild. Putting too much belief and detail into a creation is like letting a ritual go in mid motion. Its a perfect setup for disaster.

Most people who create such things set up a contingency plan, like connection to a piece of paper that they burn to destroy it. And they don't keep the same one forever, they destroy them every once in a while and then make new ones.

The magickal purpose to such energy forms is like a casting that you can continue to "feed" energy to in order to keep it artificially "alive". The created energy form can be used to protect you, or be used like a bound spirit. Binding spirits is nasty business, so those who don't want to disrespect a soul will create something instead to do the job. I don't do it at all. I created something once to protect me while I slept (when I was young) and let's just say, it started to get very creepy. So I destroyed it.

Personal "realms" are a creations of yours, your energy, your mind, which means its connected to you alone. Placing a creation inside of that with no control is like placing a hand grenade in your home. Don't do it.
