Sacrifice

I need to sort out a mystery right now. When you sacrifice food or alcohol to a god in a ritual, what do you do with the food then? Throw it away or give it to the dog? lol because you should not save it and eat it later by yourself.( I dont have a dog)

I think it would depend on what you believe, some people eat it, understanding that the deity enjoys it as you do. Other people give it back to the earth, or to animals, since the energy the food represents has already been taken.

I have read that if you eat the food yourself it angers the God. Is it true?
Probably I would throw it away, but at the same time I want to be economic and not waste it.

When I have been working a spell, or ritual, for some time, I use up so much energy that I usually have to eat something.I don't think the Gods or spirits are actually interested in food.

I have also wondered about that. can gods enjoy the same things that we enjoy? I am confused. How important is it to sacrifice things to the gods?

Here is a great middle! In many cultures people add a place setting (placemat plate utensils and napkin) at the table and invite their passed over loved ones or whatever spiritual being they invite to eat with them. I do this at every holiday. Pour them wine or whatever you're giving and when you're done eating, they should be too. You can put the plate away and pour the wine outside over dirt, throwing it in the garbage is disrespectful.

Offering fruit, honey and other animal friendly foods is best if you're not going to eat it yourself. Many rituals were done outside and when food "disappearred" off the plates it was likely to be a hungry little critter.

You can leave the plate outside in the same fashion and I'm sure most if not all of it will be gone within a few hours.

i think that you can leave it out for some spirits or faeries or something. maybe as a gift or a blessing. but during sabbats and stuff you often eat cakes and wines and stuff in honor of the god/dess
