Didn't your mother ever teach you to respect your elders? Until you've had 60 years of experience with magick, like Brysing, you should pay attention to what he has to say. You don't have to agree with it, you are entitled to your own opinion and he is entitled to his. But you should respect it.
YOU saw the energy. Did anyone else? If it was physical anyone should be able to see it. Not everyone can see spiritual energy.
The reason why you see media images with fireballs, electricity and the like because many are made by people who imagine what magick would look like IF it was physically manifested in full form. But that only happens in movies, books and games. Bottom line is its spiritual energy.
I loved the movie the sorcerors apprentice! Not only was it funny with some humor only a witch would love, but also because at the end when the main character saw the electricity in the sky, the girl next to him couldn't see it. Everything in that movie that was "seen" through the main character's eyes wasn't there physically. Some people walk around literally blind to spirits and magick, and others do not.
Magick is harnessing energy. The energy is there and you can learn to see it or be born capable but that doesn't mean it is physical and a skeptic on the street will be wowed by your displayed "powers".
And to the other guy who claimed he saw the paper move, if you stare at something long enough it can appear to move. Its an optical illusion. Not to mention if your clairvoyant you probably saw it astral form move. Everything that is physical has a spiritual energy that looks identical. This is how you can offer food and drink to spirits. The food doesn't disappear!
Put the object on a ruler and see if it REALLY moves. It won't.
I discount the various "kinesis" because very circumstance I have ever heard of it could quite readily be accounted for by various natural occurring within the region where it was practice - the laws of physics.
It is almost always somebody attributing events to magic because they don't understand physics or want to believe they can make magic so badly that they ignore rational thought.
The people are almost always incredibly young and almost always possess a history of other outlandish claims and so forth.
Do I think it is possible to augument molecules in a manner that causes light waves to change, objects to move on their own, and lightning to shift from your fingers? Sure. In theory you can manifest enough will to agitate and rearrange molecules so as to cause these events.
Is it likely? No.
Believe what you want. But I have no use for practices rooted entirely in those who seem to lack understanding physics, magical practice and... well, anything but fringe concepts of metaphysics and magic.
I suspect that kinesis is a subjective experience, therefore appears real to the practitioner. That is to say, that with enough focus one can alter their own view of reality,but without that meaning that anything has occured in consensus reality :)
