To All Those Experienced

We cannot always assume role playing when someone speaks outlandishly. We mustn't forget the ignorance that plagues this world concerning spiritual matters. There is more false information out there than there is truth. It takes a sharp mind to weed through the good and the bad. And a bit of experience.

I have had many beginners come up to me and use wrong terms or interpret something slightly or tremendously askew.

I just wanted to point out that even though descriptions could be way off, it doesn't mean that the person isn't facing a real problem and coming to us for help.

Laughing at someone or poking fun will only push them away from our ways. It is in our power at that moment in time to educate, bringing them out of ignorance through knowledge.

If they felt that they knew everything, they wouldn't be asking questions. Not one of us can say we know everything there is to know, magick is too vast. Which is why, I'm sure, many of you who are experienced were drawn to this site. To share, to expand your knowledge, and to make connections.

Magick is so unknown because so many people keep it quiet! We aren't being hunted anymore (well not usually). The more we inform those thirsting for the knowledge, the more we grow as a whole. Our ways were almost wiped out, don't let your knowledge die with you. That's what many of our ancestors did.

i dont know that we can really call magic unknown at this point. I believe there are some beginners that are serious about the craft, i was one of those folk myself a few decades ago. I do keep in mind that we were all beginners once ourselves. Sadly our craft and for some of us our faith has become trendy, one of the latest fads and with that fad came hordes of what we call here fluffys.

It is a fact that much of the world's knowledge both magical and non-magical was lost in the great fire that occurred in the Library of Alexandria. Even more was lost to the world when practicing magic became a taboo or in some areas outlawed. I have found that those who are experienced in the ways of magic do try to share what we can despite the fact that many of the young do not want to hear the truth. Many come seeking the knowledge but don't want to actually put forth the effort it requires to learn how to practice magic.

The magic being hidden statement is farce. Anyone with a search engine can look up free magical knowledge or if you want more you can order a vast array of books over the internet.

As for the fluffs out there they give the rest of the serious magical practitioner a bad wrap. Those seeking rebellion, to look cool, or just fill a void with drama are not serious about learning and cause those who do actually want to learn a disservice. If only there was anti-fluff spray!

Absolutely correct in every aspect. There are some very serious youngsters wanting to learn; and many of them mail me. I usually answer their questions, but I try not to actually teach. This is because I think that just reading about it does not really work without a personal teacher.I usually advise to join The Pagan Federation or to find a coven or Pagan group in their area.
But, of course, there are many who "know it all" already. And some of them do tend to get magic a bad name! It is difficult to sort the Chaff from the Wheat. We older ones do try, but not I'm afraid with a great deal of success.

Oh you had me rolling at "anti-fluff spray"!

I do know all too well about the fluffy bunnies. We have quite the epidemic. I've helped defluff a few in the past. It isn't an easy task.

I know that there are many who are not serious. But that is now. When they grow and develop their minds, they may come back to it with more dedication if they had a good experience. And information sticks in our minds. they may not use it now, but it may come in handy later. By no means can you handle a fluffy bunny with kit gloves, not all lessons are learned through care but through sternness. Those who truly want to understand will continue to press on as long as they are given a reason to. Knowledge is addicting.

I'm not saying that no one here helps. But I only see a certain few that answer the questions, when I see many many profiles of people who should be capable of answering them equally as well adding their own insights.

I do disagree about the books. Too many of them veil themselves in this sense of mystery, this vague explaining without truly giving an explaination and it drives me crazy! These poor people I meet are so clueless even after reading tons and tons of books and websites. Many of them are garbage, especially the stuff you find online. Unless its from the sacred texts website or sacred magick which has a majority of worthy material.

I have trouble even recommending books because I find so many of them filled with neo pagan rubbish. I generally select specific articles only, because they have less room to ramble.

But nothing in this world compares to knowledge passed down from person to person. You cannot interact with a book.

Reading books can only get you so far and answers only so many questions. Not all the answers are out there in plain view. Most of us have collected the knowledge to answer these questions, not through information from books, but from our personal experiences.

All I'm trying to say is that these people need guidance, not from their peers who are just as ignorant, or from books that give only part of the story, but from those of us who have the experience under our belts. Even if its just a little experience, a little knowledge is better than none at all.
