The titan I was thinking of was actually Astraios, father of the four winds.
He was labeled a titan over the stars but at the time they believed the stars/planets/space controlled the weather, which can't be totally disclaimed seeing that meteorologists don't do too well trying to predict it!

I will admit I liked Hercules by Disney! I enjoyed seeing a little comedy mixed in with the greek myths. The tornado image may have wedged itself into the back of my mind. Most greek writings about the titans are very vague.

I was thinking about a 4 element protection but it was only a theory of mine. But if it worked for you then my theory now has validation. Thanks!

Its a problem because I don't live near any forests (I used to 2 years ago). And the tornadoes would rip through it and leave the homes alone. But there may be a few places I could divert it to around here if the storm is too strong. Places without many people. Cities have few open spaces, but here its nothing but fields, parking lots, and patches of homes and businesses, with no truly tall buildings. But children's schools always wind up near most of the fields. I have at least three schools located in a four block radius around my home. And the towns near me are reknown for tornadoes touching down and traveling a few miles into other ones. Trust me, as soon as I get the chance I am moving to a better location!

Between what the two of you have given me, I should be well on my way to peace of mind over this weather! Thank you both.

And I am relieved that my 4am post made sense!

Wow, my second post ever on this forum was bumped!

Well, in pm a few nice people gave me some tips of their own. I've always had a fear of tornadoes and my brain basically shut off when trying to write a protection. You should never try to stop weather. I never wanted to stop it, just protect my home and family. Weather is nature at its finest, albeit some of it can be very dangerous and scary! Remember that when protecting against nature, we need to work with it, not against it.

I'm not one to share my own magick, but in this case, I'll do so to help those like myself, who have concerns about their family's safety. But never trust magick over common sense. You should always take the proper precautions and get to safety. Spiritual means do not replace physical action.

I performed this just before a storm was supposed to hit. There was a tornado watch in effect (yes I moved fast!)

ITEMS

Oats ~ earth representation
Sea Salt ~ earth/water representation (just a pinch to a cup of oats)
5 red rose petals (fresh or dry) ~ water representation
Cloves ~ fire representation
5 dandelions (in the white and puffy stage) ~ air representation

I mixed the oats with the sea salt. Placed each representation into separate pouches.

I picked trees that were at or near each direction, starting in the east working sunwise.

At each tree a repeated the following. I placed them down in no particular order, the only one that was first was the one corresponding with direction of the tree to my home.

Placing down the dandelion.
"Spirit of the East and of Air, protect my family from these storms"

Sprinkling the cloves.
"Spirit of the South and of Fire, protect my family from these storms."

Placing down a rose petal (don't worry if it flies away)
"Spirit of the West and of Water, protect my family from these storms."

Sprinkling the Oats/Sea Salt (don't sprinkle on the tree roots or grass!)
"Spirit of the North and of Earth, protect my family from these storms."

Then when I came back to my home, I sprinkled the remaining ingredients only 3 feet from my building and said
"Spirits of the directions, protect my home, protect my family"

Now personally, I use the terms "Red, Blue, Black, and White Spirit" and see east as fire, north as wind, west as water and south as earth. But since you're not familiar with that meaning, I changed it for this forum. You could also us the Wiccan Watchtowers, angels or element Guardians I'm sure.

Yes, I was panicking here in this topic and was suffering from a major "brain fart" due to the succession of storm after storm, each one setting off the sirens in my neighborhood. This is the first place I've lived where I have no basement so my fear was intensified.

When I went in after this ritual, the weather ended up being far milder. I went outside 4hrs later to the most amazing sign I have ever seen. A perfect circle of clear sky a few miles wide was surrounding my home. Dark storm clouds created the outline. The sun was shining and the sight itself teared me up! I knew it was my sign that the spirits heard my request. I've never seen such a huge perfect circle of clouds in my life and never again since.

As I said, I don't believe in trying to interfere with nature. I do however believe in magick protection on all levels.

I'm still alive! And my home is still 100% intact. I thank the spirits everytime a severe storm passes and my family remains safe. I won't claim any fantastic results because it isn't me doing it. I leave nature work to nature. =)

I'd also like to add that I also get a persistent nagging from the spirits to keep my windows and doors completely closed at the first sign of a storm. I believe it has something to do with keeping the storm outside, and not "welcoming" it, so to speak, into my home.

I've always been very skeptical of elemental manipulation. I find it horrifying and ridiculous that people in the midwest who are killed could have had their fates avoided by living next to a witch. But I'm willing to keep an open mind. Before moving on to storms, how many people can actually visibly manipulate the elements(not being sarcastic). I thought that might fall into the werewolf/mermaid spell end of the spectrum?

actually the last post by whiterav3n sounds like something magic can do. A basic protection by manipulating events

There was only ONE magician who could manipulate the weather in history and that was 'Myrddin'. There are spells that can 'change' what nature wants to do BUT they are both dangerous and can only be cast by 'powerful' and experienced casters. Furthermore influencing the weather can result in 'disastrous' results elsewhere in the world. Dig a 'storm cellar' that's better insurance....

I don't live in the country, I merely live in a condo "community". It would never allow such a thing as building a storm cellar. Tornadoes are not as common in the Chicagoland area, but they still occur.

The ritual here is not forcing anything to happen of my own will. It is giving offerings for the exchange of the Spirits' protection (the Spirits who help to control and maintain all of nature). Like a prayer but you can't expect something for nothing, hence the offerings. Back in the day, a remade tobacco would be used, but it was grown in secrecy and prepared in a special way that is complicated. So I like using other natural offerings in replacement that I am drawn to using.

My mother's side was Cherokee and Irish, and I was brought up in the Cherokee ways (minus the language which unfortunately wasn't passed down). Only when I became a teenager did I begin working with traditional witchcraft of my own accord. But the roots of my ways will always be Native American and I always go back to them when in true need.

But please! Let this post die. Its a year old. I only added the ritual so that those in the future who may google "storm protection" (or something similar) will actually find a non-fluffy way.

As I said, no one should rely on magick for protection without the use of common sense in combination. Warriors inscribed sigils upon their blades and shields, but that didn't mean they didn't have to use their blades to fight and their shields to defend themselves. If they relied on the magick alone, they wouldn't live long in battle.

Unfortunately for me, if a tornado were to touchdown near my home, I would have to run to my car (if my husband wasn't at work with our only car) and drive 2 miles to the nearest storm shelter (which doesn't sound very safe)....or stay home and huddle in my 1st floor bathroom. My house is brick so there is a good chance it wouldn't be destroyed. Basically, I have very little choices. A little spiritual aid is most welcome because I would be out of luck if a strong enough tornado touched down. And yes, I plan to move, but financially, I'm not capable of that just yet.

Hmm, Well, you cannot control a tornado that's too much energy. You can protect your home and YOU, but not a whole city! What are you? A super hero? You know how much energy that takes! No one can control mother nature. You can only defend yourself from it. Yes, you can control the energy between you and the tornado but not the whole city. Blessed be! Stay safe!
