as always, white rav3n knows what she's talking about.

basically a potion is a liquid spell. there are other clasifications like brews and baths, but they're all potions. not all potions can be drunk, since some have poinsonous ingredience. for these they are to be made, some you need to inhale the aroma, or add it to a bath, or use it as perfume. you could always just make a cup of tea and say a chant. thay would make it a potion. potions are simple, knowing the herbs is hard lol i've studied wicca/magic for almost 8 years now, and been making potions for 3, and i still don't know everything about herbs, only the ones i typically use.

Is there anything more to a potion then just adding ingredients? IS there like a ritual or enchanting process?

Well Sophfiy, that depends on what exactly you mean by "potion." Certainly there are mystical potions, but there are also teas and infusions which are much more mundane and yet may still qualify as a potion.

TheMerlin, to learn more about herbalism and potion-making I suggest Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs (http://www.scribd.com/doc/77479823/Encyclopedia-of-Magical-Herbs-Scott-Cunning-Ham) and the Practical Handbook of Plant Alchemy (http://www.scribd.com/doc/15586469/M-M-JuniusPractical-Handbook-of-Plant-Alchemy).
