It's not necessary for you to use all the items required to do a spell. However, the chances of the spells success will increase if you use the item's. In other words, you can use the items required but you don't have to.
A spell as you call it doesn't actually require reagents, or any actual props. The one thing that is required though is yourself, will, faith, focus, and total self knowledge and self mastery. These things are hard to get, and are the "real" basics which those here do not speak of, because few possess such and even fewer still really know how to attain. Hence such things won't be spoken of for the most part.
Want a spell that works, go out for a walk and you'll have a pretty good idea as to how at least part of the process works. Take care.

If you do not have all the ingredients for a spell then you can't do that particular spell. You will have to rewrite the spell to include the steps and items you do have. If you can not do this then you will need to find a spell that is already written with the items you do have.
