They don't want to believe in them.
Christianity nearly destroyed there belief and killed those who were poly theistic.

The myth thing is more of a cover. Note it did not work.
If you have seen clash of the titans then think of it like the gods need to feed on the mortals praires.

when a human worships a god, the energy that they spent goes into forming the god. It's like massive thoughtforms.

The thoughtform theory is not one that everyone subscribes to, however. There are many others who believe that the Gods are simply divine entities that were created by some even higher power, or simply created themselves, or were just always here. It's really a matter of opinion. And as with the case with all opinions, it's best if you form your own.

The Greek Gods were original Egyptian Gods, and before that even older Gods. Over many years the names get changed, really because of language differences. In English, Herakles becomes Hercules, and so on. The early Christian Church made many of the Gods and Goddesses into saints. Even the "mother" of Jesus. If you look closely at any image of the Madonna and Child (Mary and baby Jesus)you will see that they are the exact images of Isis and her baby son Horus. One of the most popular Celtic goddesses was Brigid (with many different spellings!), and most Pagans still celebrate her day at Imbolc. The Catholic Church made her an Irish saint, because people would not stop appealing to her as a Goddess.
Over centuries the Gods and Goddesses have been known by many names. It matters not what name you use, they are the same God and Goddess; or, if you prefer, the one God who is both masculine and feminine.

You can't say that for sure Brysing. Just because you think that way doesn't make it so. Many people think they are not related and some do. It's just an opinion not a fact.
