Spell failure occurs when spellcasting is attempted in conditions where the requirements of the spell cannot be fully matched, the casting fails and the spell is wasted. There are several reasons why a spell doesn?t work. What happens usually is that the spell caster is dabbling or meddling with magic for their first time and doesn?t truely believe that the spell will actually work. This is an automatic set up for a downfall or a backfire. When performing spells always keep total focus and know, not think, your spell will work. Also, meditation before spell casting is also a really good place to start. If you loose focus, you need to gently bring yourself back to what you are doing.
Some common reasons behind spell failure:
You did it wrong: Common for beginners ? You used the wrong ingredients, you didn?t speak with enough conviction, you were unable to work up enough energy (raise energy), you used the wrong approach to solving the problem (like casting a spell when you should have just let things work themselves out naturally)
You are undoing your own magic: THE MOST COMMON ? You told others about the magic you are doing, you doubted your own magic, you obsessed over the desired outcome diverting energy away from the spell and focusing it on your tension and stress, you are subconsciously thinking you don?t want the very thing you are doing spell work for, you have thought patterns working against your desires (this happens when you are angry and you continue to talk about what it is that made you angry until the anger is gone)
You aren?t meant to have it: Sometimes likely ? You are asking for something that is just not in your destiny to have, you are using magic to get something that is unjust in the eyes of God, you are working against your best interests
Someone is working against you: NOT COMMON AT ALL ? Someone is magically binding your actions, working to undo your spell work, casting hexes against you, crossing you, tripping up your magic in some way (this is so rare that in the chance of this happening, you will either know because they wish to brag or you won?t, not knowing at all is more likely.)
So what are you supposed to do about it?
If you did it wrong: If you used the wrong products/ingredients etc? then it?s obvious that you should try to find the right ones or talk to an experienced practitioner for a decent substitution (this mainly applies to herbs, powders and resins). If you didn?t raise enough energy, it?s as simple as redoing the spell this time with more conviction or using a different method to raise the energy (common methods include but aren?t limited to: Drumming, singing, chanting, etc..).If you?re cursing someone ? literally CURSE ? use foul language and damn that person to hell! If you used the wrong approach, you should do a reading on the situation and try a different spell ? for example, let?s say you tried to sweeten up your boss for a raise (with a honey jar) and it didn?t come through ? then do a reading and if it says to take more aggressive action, sprinkle Boss Fix powders in his office, or Command! Oil on his doorknob. ( I personally do not condone curses, so no questions concerning such please).
You are undoing your own magic:
Stop talking to everyone and their mother about the magic you are doing. There is a reason why wiccans follow the pyramid TO KEEP SILENT! Keeping a journal will help too by reducing your want to jabber on like yak who needs to be milked. Don?t act desperate either, this is a big one. If you need something that bad, then it?s not worth doing magic for. If you can?t wait, your impatience will be your down fall.
You Aren?t Meant to Have it:
If this isn?t self explanatory then I?ll make it clear. If you are not meant to have it, then magic is NOT going to get it for you.
Someone is working against you:
This is rare, but when it happens, a reading will clearly indicate where it is coming from and how to handle the situation. Sometimes you only need to do a series of Uncrossing Baths, sometimes its a Reversal Spell, other times its just a Protection spell. On rare occasions you need to get really serious and cut through binding spells that were put on someone, and then bind the person working against you in retaliation. Other times you need to curse that person to the grave! It really just depends on the power of the work they are doing and the approach they are taking. Usually it involves 1)Cleansing/Uncrossing, 2)Protection, 3)Reflecting or Retaliation work, 4)Binding or Cursing in that order. Don?t jump right into cursing because it might not be just in the eyes of God in which case you?ll be in a world of hurt.
If you keep trying over and over and aren?t getting your spell, and you know you are doing it right, and you know no one is working against you, and you know that your thought patterns are in a healthy place and welcome in the results, and you know it is just in the eyes of God, then you have to decide when to stop. Every plot of land needs to lie fallow at some point. Here?s a good guideline ? and this really applies for people with Reconciliation Spells or Love Spells
Set a deadline/Pick a number: Set a deadline by which you expect to see some results. STICK TO IT! Pick a number and allow yourself that many opportunities to check in and see whether or not you have been moving forward in your progress toward that goal.
Checking in: Let?s say you picked 6 months as your deadline, and the number 3. You will check in three times in that 6 month span ? the last time being at the end of the deadline. You should see better progress and movement toward your goal with each check in.
Make the Decision: On the day of your deadline if you don?t have positive progress and a good outlook, you give up on the spell work. YOU ? ARE ? DONE! Stop trying the spell work.
Ultimately, setting a deadline is a good idea for any goal ? for your own peace of mind and for love of your own self. There is no reason to torture yourself for any job you can?t get, or any man you can?t get, or any apartment you can?t get. There is plenty in this world and you will always find a better option after you?ve moved on from that goal.
