I don't actually believe that one cane be haunted by a name. However, I've not heard of it. Have you tried asking your deities for enlightenment on the topic? They may be able to provide you with some insight if you've found it no where else.
You realize that the word "demon" come from the Greek word "daimon" which means a spirit or divine power that may be either malevolent or benevolent. The early Church condemned all Pagan spirits as "evil," which is why the word is most generally associated with evil entities. I say this because that would mean that these "demons" you speak to could be and possibly are deities in other cultures. That being said if you talked with them you might find out the answer to your question.
