the first thing that "most people" ask is "how to find my element?" so, is it really how to find my element? first, humans are made from all of the elements (fire, water, earth, air, and the so-called spirit).. Franz bardon said in his book "initiation into hermetic" that humans are destined to master/i mean to have balance in all of the elements so as to ascend.. so why would many saying that his element is this and that? it is because that element is "most" abundant in him so that's why that element is the one that will most probably manifest in him.. it is not actually "his" element because humans are not elementals on the first place.. unlike gnomes who are made with purely earth element, sylphs with air element, salamaders with fire element, and undines with water element.. elementals have been viewed as immortals but they are not really immortals on the first place.. why? because they don't need to have balance with all the elements they simply have longer life span unlike humans who need to balance it all because having elemental imbalance will most probably manifest as a weakness (or strength) and even made a person sick.. example, if water is most abundant to a person, he will most probably have problems in his digestive system, etc..

The only real elements are
Water
Fire
Earth
Air
Spirit (Not really an element as it more just binds the others together)

Snow and ice are just frozen water and cold isn't an element

Shadow is a lack of light so its not an element as light isn't even an element

People make distinctions between what is often referred to as the "main elements", which would be fire, earth, air, and water.
Some people consider spirit to be an element looking at it as a sort of 'life' type of thing. This is an accepted element it simply depends on your beliefs. For instance the pentagram is sometimes used to express the main elements, there being 5 corners they need a fifth element.

An expression I've used for a while now is "sub-elements". This isn't an official thing you'll most likely find in a book somewhere it's just what I call lesser elements that are combinations of the main elements or other lesser elements. An example would be ice, water and air possibly expressing lack of fire or heat. These are most certainly elements, just not among the main elements.

Light and dark I still have trouble myself accepting these as elements because they aren't made of matter or lack thereof. Light is created by reflective waves.
However they can still be used in the same manner as elements when it comes to magic. For instance you could try using Lucifer the bearer of light, or Erebos the god of darkness.

They can in fact be seen and used as elements just not among the main elements.

Astrological position effects the energy in the world at any given time. I think it's the same concept of how the moon effects the gravitational field of the earth to create tides ect. I do not believe that it necessarily indicates that you are attracted to a specific element. I will put forth this suggestion. Meditate on each of the elements. Hold something that you associate with a given thing. a feather for air or a rock for earth ect. Put bowls of water around you or candles whatever. Go out into nature when working with the earth. The energies that you find that you feel the best or the strongest are the elements that you are connected too. And yes their can be many.

All people are connected to all elements, and what you are most gifted with is sort of irrelevant.

I am a gemini as well alice, and while i have a special affinity for air, i also love the earth and its flora and fauna. As well rounded casters we should work well with all the elements. I hope, as human beings that we all love the earth and its creatures.

Well my zodiac signs are water and air signs (lucky me I'm a libra/scorpio cusp) but I connect to the Earth instinctively. When I'm grounding or meditating, my mind always goes to the same place. A meadow in the middle of nowhere at night with a clear sky that is sort of close to the ocean I think because I can somewhat hear waves crashing in the background.
