So, I though that I would explain some terms that are often used in this site, as some people may not know what they mean or not fully understand them. It may seem elementary, but if you have a skewed understanding of key concepts, then it may undermine your practice in various ways.
Chi ? Also known as ki, this means the life energy that is present in all living things. It is one of the most commonly used energy sources as it is relatively easy to harness.
Psi ? This describes energy that is derived from mental focus, most commonly meditation or some other technique that directs the full force of the mind towards a task.
Chakra ? Flower or circular shaped points on the etheric body that spread out from a point on the physical body. They represent focal points for taking in and giving out energy. There are many systems describing them, but most agree that there are 7 main chakra points. Related to the use of Chi energy and governs the health of the body.
Etheric Body ? The lowest form of subtle body, a connection between the physical body and all higher bodies. Used in Etheric projection.
Aura ? A field of electromagnetic radiation that surrounds an object, place, or person. Can be seen with practice, and if interpreted provides information about the subject emitting the aura. The aura of a person shifts colours depending on the emotional and spiritual state of the person.
Kinesis ? The art of manipulating a certain medium using purely psionic energy. For example, hydrokinesis is the art of manipulating the medium of water using the mind.
Astral Projection ? Where the astral body leaves the physical body and travels to the astral plane.
Astral body ? A subtle body that is a state somewhere between the physical body and the intelligent soul. Used when travelling the astral plane.
Spell ? A ritualistic series of actions that is performed to bring about a desired effect.
High Magic ? A term that describes complex rituals that use a great amount of ceremony and a varied selection of tools.
Sigil ? A symbol created for a specific purpose that utilises a complex combination of shapes, each with a specific meaning. The sigil must be energised before use, a process which varies depending on the type of sigil created.
Familiar ? An intelligent being that assists a practitioner with their craft. Can take many forms, including animals, humanoids or even abstract
I basically just churned out the first dozen or so terms that people most commonly misinterpret. The idea is to get the ball rolling so that people will ask questions about ideas that they don't quite understand. If you don't want to post here, then send me a mail and I'll add it in.
