Not many pagans can practice their religion easily, and it's been like that for a thousands of years.

Telling has always been hard, because we fear there will or might be consequences. I can't remember when I told my mom, I did things on my own, and she began to find out on her own pace. My father (who I am not close to) does not know, and many family members either. I personally do not feel it is something that I should be boasting about, when they ask I might answer, or I might not; I analyze the circumstances.
At home I had many inconveniences and disagreements with my mom who I live with. She insulted and hurt me in many ways, anger resulted in me hurting her too; but we matured enough to recognize our paths, though she still thinks mine is incorrect. She has not taken the time to understand my beliefs, and I have not felt the need to explain it to her in depth. I guess everyone has a different family that will react in different forms.
Paganism, and any form of religion that is not the one practices in your home will normally be frowned upon; try to understand where they stand and make them understand where you stand.

yeah, for you guys i went with telling my parents because they are christians but dont go to church. I told my mom and she said ''I love you more then your religious choice'' and she accepted me. I then went with my mom to tell my dad who rejected it flat out and yelled at me, but after a week he started to talk to me normally again and they even bought me my first tarot card deck!

Moral is your parents and family will love you no matter what, so i think that trusting them with knowing is good...Of course this is if they are open minded. Still its not like you have to confess it or anything to your parents, dont make it a big deal and hopefully they wont either.

i can relate, my mom and i have always been close, so telling her wasn't too hard, but i've only told my sister, mom, and two close cousin's. about a week ago my dad came over and we went out to dinner and i was talking about this job i really want and in school it was my highest subject, but i had to take a day off resulting in a zero. and my sister told him i converted. my dad begged me i wasn't jewish which made me chuckle a little but my stomach really hurt, i told him i was wicca he groaned and kinda stopped talking to me for the rest of his visit and i haven't heard from him since. not too bad since my dad's cut me out of his life after the divorce, but still.

actually, a positive thing for you to think about, i feared to tell my grandparents because how they go to church every sunday and well, they don't have crucifixes in the house, but they're devout Christians, and always talk about how we white Anglo's are a dying group [so on] well apparently a few years ago my mom told my grandmother, and nothing's changed, they've never once brought it up, nor have i, i nearly cried when i found that out. it'll feel really good once you're accepted, but wait until the time is right, that's my advice anyway.

Personally my parents will never know about my change in religion. I told them about my bisexuality 4 years ago and still haven't heard the end of it.

All of my friends currently know. It's something thats been out in the open with them and if they want to leave after that its completely up to them. I have one friend who has me do spells for her now and then and since magick was something I could do without changing too many previous habits their easy to perform.
