This is not to bash any Christians out there but why are there Christians on this website that practice magick? In the bible it says that witchcraft is evil and comes from Lucifer so why do they practice it?

Okay, I would've thought that they would follow that part. It's still a bit impractical in my mind.

It does say that, but it also says a few other things that have had to change over time because language changes. That aside, magick is not witchcraft. It is often associated with witchcraft, but I practice magick and I am not a witch.

A few things the bible would have had us against had we not overcome ignorance: light bulbs, stove-top cooking, microwaves, etc... to shorten the list it's technology in general. A fear of magick is what stopped the progress of science for a very long time.

If you remember correctly it was with the burning of The Great Temple of Alexandria That the christins hated magick our basically things that didnt fit in with their doctirine as well as peeling the skin of the priestess alive while she still held breath truelly we would of had stoves and such a long time ago if not for them.

Powerofall, I don't recall doing any of those things and I don't believe my relatives did either. It's important to keep in mind that not all Christians are alike(thus why I'm here) and those were the acts of the ignorant. Every religion, even today, has what are called "extremists" who take things to far and often in the wrong way.

One can be Christian without taking the bible verbatum.

Infact, the definition of Christian is one who believes in Jesus as Christ. No where does it say they must all obey the bible.
A lot of people believe they have gifts given to them from God, do rituals or spell "prayers" in the name of God.

Keep in mind, that when we continue with generalizations, we can't expect others to not generalize us.

This is funny, so Christians burned the alexandrian library and were peeling the skin from women. What else, did they kill the dinosaurs as well? Where do you get this, from puzuzu?

Diamo this is a good thread.
I, for example, am a Bible following Christian yet I am no sheep. Well one can't follow the Bible 100%, I mean it describes customs from before 2000 years and more. I found my religion after that teenage rebel phase, found myself in it. Anyhow it works well for me. A little digression, sorry.

I do not practice magic, in the most basic meaning of the term. Not because I'm afraid of it or hate it, it's because I'm kinda not allowed to (yes I'm saying my religion doesn't let me), I believe rules are to be followed, personally it would bother me if I practiced magic, witchcraft or whatever. I don't judge, people have free will to do whatever they want.
I do, on the other hand, practice energy manipulation (which I don't consider magic) and Christian "magic" (prayers, banishing, exorcism, blessing, protection).

Oh I forgot to mention what am I doing on this site.
I'm learning about other religions and magic in general. Too much knowledge never hurt somebody (by itself).
