You don't liquefy the herbs, you boil them in the water (like a tea) or grind them up very fine.

Please, please make sure whatever you're ingesting is safe to do so.

I second that fully. Make sure you KNOW that whatever your putting into your body is not poisonous, and that you are not allergic to it. I found out the hard way in my early years of practice that the flowers of the wolf's bane plant are poisoness. Because I ingested them, I developed an allergy to them that makes a rash come out on my skin whenever I mess with the flowers of the plany.

There is also a process(can't remember what its called) where u neither grind up the stuff in the water, but like boil it then drain off the water or something. If I could rememebr the name I know it would make sooo much more sense, lol. And I think for that, my suggestion, is do major research in books, on google, where ever, on how to properly make potions/teas/or other such things(I think even alchemy has some stuff on it too).

If you want to know the purposes of herbs, and whether their safe to use or not, I suggest investing in Scot Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs.
