I find the new layout interesting. Signing myself in is a problem of time for me. I find myself not patient enough like you people. My point is that I like the new layout, except for the lack of sign in on the front page. I do not care about the chat for I do not use the chat anyways.
I accept the new layout for I like reforms.

WizardCrim, considering what you just said, I have finally thought of the dial-up users... Logging in takes me time with DSL and I remember how much slower(about one fiftieth of my current internet speed) dial-up was. If they are as impatient as I would be, that alone is cause enough to delete the account and leave or at least not bother logging in until I could get a faster speed.

The layout won't go back so stop asking.

There was an issue with some versions of Internet Exploder not displaying the top navigation properly, which should now be fixed.

For those members who's only reason for visiting the site was because they really like the old layout, they are free to leave.

If the on-page chatter is too small, use the full screen chatter.

And look up the meaning of word redundant before you try to act intelligent by using words with more than 2 syllables.

It's a shame that this was the only other option, but if it was due to Explorer being a failure with it then that's understandable. I've always said that Firefox works better anyways.

Definition of redundant from Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary and Thesaurus-
Redundant
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin redundant-, redundans, present participle of redundare to overflow — more at redound
Date: 1594

1a: exceeding what is necessary or normal: superfluous
b: characterized by or containing an excess; specifically: using more words than necessary
c: characterized by similarity or repetition
d chiefly British: no longer needed for a job and hence laid off
2: profuse, lavish
3: serving as a duplicate for preventing failure of an entire system (as a spacecraft) upon failure of a single component

— re·dun·dant·ly adverb

Going by definition 1A, I would have to agree that this site can now be considered more redundant then it was before as the number of steps necessary for logging in, the number of steps for viewing anything that was previously on an account's profile, and the added tasks that this new layout brings in general is more then was necessary with the previous layout.

However I would also say that by definition C, most websites are redundant since most pages do not have different layouts for them thus they could be as repetitive as a line of brick buildings.

I use dial-up and it doesn't take very long to sign in. I don't see why every time Pet makes a change everyone gets all bent out of shape about it? Just get use to it already I did. I don't think that any of the changes are that bad.

Perhaps my dial-up connection was just worse then what you have, Sue, or perhaps the page is smaller then I would estimate. Back when I had dial-up it was at about 50kb per second, and that's really slow.

Since Pet has explained why he made the change I don't think I have anything left to say. Administrating anything, in my opinion, is about ensuring optimal efficiency and if the last layout did not work for a group of people then the last layout was not the best choice, regardless of the personal preference of the members(assuming the group mentioned did not like the layout not working as they probably didn't since they complained). Considering that I don't see much of a reason to carry on about this anymore. I've given my opinion already, but efficiency is more important I think.

Looking at everyones disputes about the new layout leads to one problem, you all complain about the chatter being too small. This just goes to show that most of you are only here for socializing and making friends. But most of us are here to learn, study, and help others.

Pet does have a fair point, its his site and whatever you say won't make him put it back just to amuse you all. And yes we have the option of full-screen chat, use it!

I've been around this site for 3 years and I think Pet has made this site a great place to be.

He should be applauded for his work, not brought down.

Well done Pet!
