using latin in spells

Post # 1
has anyone found that using the latin language in spells multiplies the power? im not talking about the whole harry potter type spells but saying latin instead of english actually helps the spell. ive posted 2 spells on the forums both using latin words. one was a rain spell that ive used many times that always worked and i have gotten good feedback from others saying the same. the other was a fire element summoning spell but this one never worked for me. althou it has worked well for some who contacted me. let me know if anyone else has found that using latin words helps your spells. many thanks

What I think helps most with a spell is focusing on the intent, not on the words, and not many people are fluent in Latin anymore. By using Latin, your brain isn't making the direct and immediate connection with the words that it would in say, English or whatever language you are fluent in. By using Latin you are helping yourself to detach and to feed energy into the spell and the intent... instead of "jee I really want to make it rain, it has to work..."

Am I making sense, lol? Sometimes it helps to turn a spell into gibberish, like: "I will it to rain" would become "Wit ranii litlo" by switching up the letters. You become more connected with the power than the words.

I don't think any one language is more powerful than another, it is what YOU make powerful.

Well...Latin's a dead language, and the meanings of each word is much more solid than the meaning of languages that are still being used. So Latin lets you communicate a very unambiguous intent in a very unambiguous way. Methinks that's the bottom line. ^_^

I hate when people call Latin a "dead" language, because it is everywhere. It's a language that is sort of ingrained into most of the Western world's brain. It's surprising how many words make more sense when we know their Latin and Greek roots.

Kikuyo is right, the main objective in using words in a spell is to empower you, or use it as a method of directing energy. You may feel that some languages feel more powerful than others. The language you choose is your choice, I prefer Latin.

Kikuyo is right, what language you use makes no difference, the deal with latin is how it is used, any enchantment takes power from the focus of the caster. using latin helps focus the mind on the meaning of the words and there by increasing it's effectiveness.

I like using runes or the witches language.
