i have a couple of Staffs, all shapes and sizes, some for elemental wielding, some for blunt force trauma to the skull, each one can be used the same yet each has their own pros and cons, my advice is get a couple of branches that have fallen and play around, otherwise ask the spirits who guard the trees in mediation to bless the wood you are about to take, it will increase it's all round strength, also, mentally pull your staff into astral when you play around, it gives it major etheric strength and presence after a while which is visible to the point where the stick looks "changed"

I only use staves. A wand is a shaped tool unnaturally formed by man's hand, while a stave is much closer to nature and much more useful in the types of elemental casting that I prefer. Of course, a wand may be better in other types of magic, but for me a stave is the only tool that would suit my purposes.

I use wands simply because where I live it is easy to pass as a walking stick, plus I can beat the living daylight out of people with one.
