*A short article looking into Pyromancy*

Pyromancy is divination through the means of fire, coming from Greek Pyos meaning fire and manteia which means Divination. It has been practiced it is said since Neolithic times, possibly even farther back than that. As time progressed, different methods were developed and incorporated into Pyromancy. In Ancient Egypt, this was the most popular form of Divination for predicting future outcomes or interpret messages from the Gods.

Basically, the Diviner uses the signs that are seen in the flames to predict furture outcomes to events or to see the signs of past events for answers. Pyromancy is performed through the interpretation of the color, shape, movement, and intensity of the fire. Commonly, into the fire that is to used for divining; specific herbs, twigs, and such have been cast into the flames.

There are a variety of forms to divine through fire, in some cases the Seer may stare into the flames until entering a hypnotic state in which visions appear. A variation, the Seer would observe not the fire directly, but in a reflection from a mirror. Invocations were said over the fires, in which sacred herbs and such were cast in as stated above.

The ancients also observed through the flames of torches, if the flame formed a single point it was a good sign and if it was split in two then it was a negative signs. In the temples of the Gods in Ancient Greece, pyromancy was widely practiced as an acceptable form of communication and to receive messages from the deities.
