In general I receive a lot of questions about privacy spells, how do they work, what are they for? Etc.
This spell is meant to prevent metaphysical intrusion and spying. It is meant to prevent other witches from finding you with scrying, through spirits, or in astral work.
You will need:
Sage (any kind will work, but white or common are advised).
Common ivy (that stuff growing all over the neighbour's trees or house).
A twig from a hedge (the common hedges are yew or aborvite, either work well).
Black string.
A dish.
Matches/lighter.

Start by wrapping dried sage and ivy leaves around the hedge twig. Make sure these aren't too type, there will need to be breathing room.
Use the black string to tie it off. Set this down on the dish for a momment, let the string and botanicals settle.
Before going about something you want magickal privacy for, light the bundle. You can waft it through the space or leave it in the dish. The idea is that it produces a generous amount of smoke, and burns slowly.

Explanations:
Sage is commonly used for purification, banishing, and protection. The idea is that this will help keep spirits, astral forms, and wrong doers from finding you.
Ivy grows over things, it hides what is underneath. The idea is that the ivy smoke will blanket you and hide you like ivy blankets and hides what it grows on.
Hedges are grown as a living fence between propertiea often times. They are meant for privacy.
The black string is used because shadows are often represented by black, and when one wishes to remain unseen they often lurk in the shadows.
